HELP! Car in pieces

the bolt is directly on the back of the caliper...Not what you pictured...it is on the flat lower part of the bump on the side facing towards the opposite rear wheel...

Anyway it will be difficult to see unless you slide yourself under neath the car (in a way that if the wheel was still mounted, it would be resting across your stomach)...you then look at the "bump" on the back of the caliper, which is where the piston retracts...There is a nut on the bottom portion, and you don't even realize it is a bolt until you start to loosen it...After you remove that bolt, there is a 8mm (can't remember exactly, maybe 6mm, but it is definately metric) deep in the hole...You won't even be able to see from the angle you are laying at...But slide the allen key in the hole and twist it until you feel it engage the hex...then turn it counter clockwise to pull the piston back...It takes a while, and the allen bolt does not come all the way out...Just keep cranking it until you have enough pressure off the pads to slide the caliper back off the pads...You will then most likely need to retract the piston even further to fit the new thick pads into their retaining clips...

it is difficult to explain, but just find the bolt on the back of the caliper that looks like it doesn't do anything...Remove it and you are good to go...

Also a note...You need to remove the emergency brake cable before any piston movement...You can bind the cable up if you retract the piston while the hand brake is pulled...So get the rear of the car off the ground with a pair of jack stands...Then let the hand brake down, and remove the cables from the little brackets...it is pretty easy...After that start messing with the allen bolt crap...

nah it's ok, dont worry about it. someone else can do it when they change their rear pads. i'm in no rush...just getting info together so i can work out my own brake package down the track
