Ok, so i currently have my valve cover off...my timing belt is flapping in the breeze, and my cams and cam gears are out.

Before I removed them, I marked the teeth on my cam gears and the belt (so one mark on one tooth of each cam gear, and two marks total on the belt that correspond with said marked gears).

Now I can't get it back together. If I line up the corresponding belt and cam gear marks, the gears won't go on the cams because the belt doesn't have enough slack.

I can put one cam gear onto the cam with the belt over the gear, but then I can't get enough slack in the belt to get around the other cam gear in the proper position.

Any ideas?

bigger belt? i duno what you doing upgrading the cams i dunno im confused on your post here. Please tell em the s*** in your sig is not for real. Can you get it on at all or just not in that postion?

I can't get it on both cam gears at all.

enry ****** with my sig.

soud liek your doing everything right. did you upgrade the cams?

damn dude i was hoping to get a short penis haha and lx ecu

lol, I can't vouch for the penis thing...

but he does actually have an lx ecu (stooges)

dude, what a predicament at 2 in the am!!

yeah it was a b**** when i had to reinstall mine. you really have to move the tensioner. you could always get someone with monkey strength, like i did. my old man has the oldman strength.

it's not easy, but what i did was have the belt down the bottom only 1/4 on with a mate holding it there and it made the install of the belt over the cam gears very simple compaired to the belt fully on at the bottom.

The last time I replaced a cam I put the gears on before putting the timing belt on. I think Twilight is saying to only barely put the belt on the crank pulley just enough to stretch it over the cam gears and then slide it on all the way. I'm pretty sure that is what I did as well. Just remember that the tension adjuster on the timing belt only rotates 180 degrees. Anything more than that and you risk stretching the spring.

yeah that ;) hehehe to put the cams and timing gear back in takes about 1.5hrs (when you've done it hundreds of times like me) no worries

Ok, I have an issue now...I need to get the sprocket and UDP(?) completely off so I can SEE the belt and reseat it and such. How do I go about doing that? When i turn a wrench CCW, it turns the motor. i need a way to stop it from turning.

Get a Sears card and buy air tools.

Justin - Even if i did, i don't think that would help me. I have the power to turn the thing, it's just that EVERYTHING turns.

twilight - will that definitely work?
