Well, I know there will be some biased opinions here, but I would like some honest input.

I have the chance to buy a 2001 Mazda Protege MP3 (Yellow) and would like to know some more about the car (since the reviews on them are horrible). Itll be the first car I own and want to know if its as slow as the reviews have stated. I would like something that is peppy and can produce the power when/if needed and can still have great gas mileage. The car has had a complete engine rebuild, new transmission, and also a new clutch by the dealer. Also, is the price right? $5200 which Im going to try and talk them down to $4000-4500.

My bronco will be getting a complete overhaul and I need something to drive in the mean time. (Yes, I plan on keeping the MP3 if purchased)

Thanks for any input,
Levi

yea it comes with a sub its ok after markets are better. I think the price is a lil high for what they have on a rebuild. I just recently got one It has a little pep but I'm used to driving a jeep. If your trying to race it its not gonna have the power your looking for. If you are using it as a daily driver you will be fine.

Thanks for the reply, but I was thinkin the price was a bit high also. At this point though, any pep is good pep lol. My bronco has the 300 and its getting a little under the weather so its not producing the torque it should have. Ill most likely just play around with it and race a couple cars for the hell of it, but other than that itll be a DD. I have a 2000 watt amp and 2 12 in. subs that will go in the car if I get it until the rebuild on the ford is done.

Also, my brother has a 01 Ford Mustang and he keeps wanting to race everything I get, so Ill just do it to shut him the hell up lol (after the motor, trans, and clutch are broke in).

What aftermarket products are there for the motor to get more power? jw

If you dont mind me asking, what did you pay for yours?

How many miles on the car? It handles great but its not fast. Your brother would woop your ass haha. As far as aftermarket look into the handful of vendors on the site.

Itl get a v6 off the line if you launch it right but after 30ish they start pullin of course just take your brother down a back road and he won't have a chance.

You will probably be disappointed with the acceleration. Test drive and and put it to the test. On the flip side, at an autocross I went to I had a faster time around the track than an older porsche. You'll smoke the stang through a canyon or around a track if you learn the limits of the car. I over paid on my mp3. I bought it in 07 with 100k miles on it and paid 8500(face palm) dont make that mistake

My wife purchased mine, while it was brand new back in 2001. It was handed down to me a few years back!
