2006 MS6 GrandTouring
I just bought a 2006 MazdaSpeed6 GrandTouring with 39K mi on it all the books and papers (including the window sticker) are there. Looks and drives great paid $18K for it. I didn't do a whole lot of research before buying it, how did I do on the price and how are they for reliability? Mine has a moonroof on it was that an option? Also the guy who owned it first drove it about 100mi a day (highway miles) to work.

I bought my '06 MS6 Sport with 11,000 miles in Jan '08 for $17,700. Since you got all the GT toys I'd say you got a really good deal. Not sure how to value the 28K fewer miles (and more warranty) but if they are all highway miles (plus it's an Arizona car) you probably did better than I did. Damn.

Enjoy it; I can't wait for spring to get mine out a bit more.

For being such a great car, our MS6's have ZERO resale value. Mine dropped 3 grand in the course of 2 months via Kelly Blue Book.

I do not think that the car itself is to blame, it is a great car. Just the fact that the original asking price was too high, and all dealers were forced to sell them at huge discounts drastically reduced our resale value.

Its a good thing I buy my cars to last a lifetime orelse I would be screwed.

This car was the best kept secret for 2006. No one jumped on these cars so they had to discount them pretty deep to get them to sell. that drops the resale value for all of us when dealers are selling them for a lot less. regardless, you got a good deal on the car. now go get some mods!!!

Welcome aboard, I love my car. Can't wait until I get back to the states and can drive it again.

Wow, you bought it for $18K? That's a great deal.

I bought a Mazdaspeed 6 grand touring in July 07 for $23k. It had 11K miles.

I also drive 100 miles to work every day. I just took it to the dealer and had a 30,000 mile maintenance and replaced the tires. Other than normal maintenance it has been a great car.

Mine looke exactly like the picture in freekwonder's post. Black on black. Mine has a full sunroof with tilt. All other options are standard. 272HP engine 4 cylinder turbo.

Did they have different equipment options?

I'd say you got a GREAT deal.

they had a few options, moonroof, navigation, GT. The dealer here has a new 07 GT in red for $26k

Mazda screws itself on resale value. Between the too high asking price, and ZERO advertising, nobody knows what a MAzdaspeed is yet a alone why they should spend that kinda money on a ms6. Been the same way since I drove a MP3 back in 01'

you don't tell people what the car is, they don't care, they don't care they don't want, they don't want, no resale value

Probably the reason why my next car won't be a Mazda....maybe.

i knew what the MP3 was and intentionally sought one out. when i couldn't find one for MSRP even, i said eff it, give me a deal on the ES and then modded the s*** out of it.

but, otherwise, yeah I agree. you need to know what you are looking for with Mazda...

I never buy a car with resale in mind. Unless you're in the collectors car market, It's universally known that a vehicle is the worst "investment" you can make.

I buy my cars with enjoyment factor, comfort, and value (in that order) in mind. This car exudes fun, is pretty damn comfortable, and between the vehicles I was looking at, was hands down the best bang for my buck. I love my MS6.

Congrats on the new ride!

Agree, I was originally looking for a speed 3 but none were available, I noticed a lone speed 6 in the showroom (everybody else was looking at the other models) and I decided right there that that was the one I wanted. I've modded it a little ever since and I'm very happy with it.

Good comments Calgary...by far the best car I've ever owned. You'd spend a lot more for a BMW and get no more luxury.

The speed6 is as good and cheaper. It's a great car to drive...fast! Zoom, Zoom, Zoom is right.
