Just wanted to introduce myself.. I'm looking to get a 2 soon and have been lurking around for a while. I'm a former Fit owner. It got totalled and I was paranoid to get another small car so I had been driving a Titan for the past few years. Well I traded that in for a family vehicle and now need a fun to drive daily driver. I will be the only one driving it so no need for anything big. I miss the Fit. I have to say it was the funnest car I owned. I used to have an 07 civic si too. well the Fits have gone up in price... back when i got my mine it was 16k,,, now they are over 18k out the door. I test drove a Mazda 2 and while theyre not as roomy as the Fit, ibut it was way funner to drive. Plus I love the price of the 2. and now with 0% interest its a no brainer. I will be negotiating for 14k. The only problem now is there seems to be a short of manual 2's in my area. the dealer has one, a red one "sport". I've never really liked red cars, but i'm thinking of pulling the trigger on that one. I think i prefer the blue (gun metal rims) white (black rims) or silver (gray or black rims). You guys can help me decide. 2 more questions. What is the preferred wheel size on the two. Looking for performance/ styling/ and weight. don't wanna roll fenders either. also, is the corksport exhaust straight bolt on or is there cutting involved? I live in TX and my county smog tests.. so i'm afraid the missing cat will fail me. Any input is appreciated. Longer post than intended but again, hello from TX! I'll be browsing to see if I can answer my own questions.

It's always near impossible to get exactly the combo you want. I was tired of settling. I went through a large dealership that was a truecar affiliate. Got an awesome price without having to negotiate, and I had them deliver the exact setup I wanted (from out of state). The downer was it had close to 300 miles on it from the delivery. The upside was it was already equipped with window tint, armrest, cargo net, and wheel-locks which I didn't pay a penny for.

Where in Texas are you from? :D There's a growing number of us Texas 2 owners.. You should go ahead and get the Red Manual sport and i'll trade you my Silver Manual sport. HAHA! (I wanted red but there were 0 to be found short of driving to Dallas. Got silver because it was either that or green. -.-)

As far as your questions go, try taking a look at "The Official Mazda2 Wheel Thread" (http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123801332-The-Official-Mazda-2-Wheel-Thread) here for ideas on good fitment/sizes. Then you can kinda keep reading the threads in the Rim/Tire forum and I think you'll find the trend has become something like wheels in the 15x7 range due to the large availability of lightweight wheels with those specs. Don't forget we can use a large amount of the wheels from Miatas, too!

Also, the Corksport muffler is all nuts and bolts. The installation guide for them can be found on their website, here: http://support.corksport.com/instructions/Mz2-6-100-WEB.pdf

thanks for the replies.. yeah it seems like 15x7 seems like the way to go.. i'll keep you all posted on what color i get.

so my local dealership says they can only come down about 300 which would put it at 15k. my 2 options are 1000 off or 0% finance. any input on this?

When I got mine the "dealer incentive" was $500 off or 0% financing. I paid $15,000 plus taxes, etc. for my touring with the 0% financing deal. You should be able to get a sport model for under $14k before taxes and fees I imagine. Go to truecar.com and see what it gives you.

true car is showing this week's avg at 14,995. I don't know if my "certificate" would show otherwise. thats for a "sport". looks like you bought at a good time. looks like you bought at a good time. I thought now would be a good time too with the 13'a around the corner.. speaking of.. any changes to the 13 model?

My dealer was talking about either a diesel or a skyactiv model for 2013, so if you are really interested in some better gas mileage you might wanna look into them. Also keep in the mind that the 2013's are going to be made in Mexico rather than Japan, not saying its a bad thing but I prefer my Japanese cars to be made in Japan.

Holy crap Mexico? Everyone is going to have a 2 down there. They will make Taxi's, Baja mobiles, and mojo monsters out of them. :)

got it! not the red sport.. another dealership who i made contact with a month ago called me today and told me they had a white touring manual in... without me even asking anything, he told me he would sell it at 15,9.. long story short, its now in my driveway. i maybe only saved on the destination charge and didnt pay for the $300 white paint option i guess.. either way 0% and no payments for 90 days was good enough for me. the other dealer squeezing the red sport never called me back... oh well.

Congrats! No payments for 90 days is pretty good...I had to start payments right away on mine.
