So I have been lurking for a year or 2. I have been nominated to be the official caretaker of a nice silver P5. My GF bought it new in 03 but its an 02. I really like it, she opted for the sport auto trans. Its been across the country a couple of times, and spent multiple weeks on the road for camping, biking, and kayaking trips.
its been mostly trouble free. the only 2 issues really are the factory alarm, and a weird stall issue its had since day one, that the dealer couldn't fix (surprise). Sometimes at a stoplight it will lower the revs then die with either a transaxle light or the cel going off. It always starts back up, and then clears the code, and seems fine. the alarm issue is weirder the doors always unlock with the key fob, but the led light doesn't always stop blinking. If the light hasn't stopped blinking, the when you open the door the alarm goes off. It doesn't always like to stop however. As posted by others it always chooses to do this at the most embarrassing times, and is now getting more common. (gah) I like working on cars and have a long stream of british cars and trucks with some early vw's thrown in the mix, but her car is all electrickery, and its HERS which means I am more hesitant to just tear into things that might make it less than desirable for her driving pleasure.
Any-who, welcome to me.
and thanks for all the help in the archives so far.
