i want to know how much would a new hood from the factory cost for the mazda 3 hatch - THanks for the help

i was driving under the train track while the MTA people were doing construction and some rocks hit my hood - now i have small dents and the paint got chipped - i stopped and filed a complaint - im waiting for them to send me a check but i rather get a brand new hood from the factory than to repair it

Mind you that the 400 is only for the hood, not painted.

$150 for a hood. Tell me were to get body parts for that cheap. It cost that much for some interior color pieces.

lol no u got his quote all wrong, he is saying 150 dollars plus (>150) for a paint job alone

I had a Celica before (as you see in the picture), somebody wrack my front end a few years ago, and the body shop quoted me a new factory hood is around $160, and you CANNOT buy a factory hood PAINTED from the factory. A paint job plus installaion and the hood altogether cost approx $500 to 600 here in Mass, I don't know about NY

No, he said it would cost $150 for the part plus the cost of a paint job.

I would guess $150 + paint job.

But he also said, "I would guess..." so it's just an estimate. As far as the Celica, do you know if they quoted you for a dealer part or an aftermarket? Seems like dealer parts are always at least 2x the price.

it was a dealer part from Toyota.

Helluva good price, then. I got a price on a cowl panel for an '89 Tercel (about 4" wide and 60" long) and they wanted over $400 for it.

I used to rebuild cars for a living, hoods were usually 350-450 from dealer, or you could get the taiwanese cheap rip offs for 150-250, mind you the extra body work you had to do to get them to look good ate up the money you saved, especially little bubbles, over in asia they got alot of crappy materials and such so you gotta watch out for their stuff if your not buying from the big japenese makers. Just some info for you guys. Take it for what its worth!

If you can get off getting just a check... why not keep the stock hood for a little while and go CF? Or do you 3s have CF hoods allready?

Nope. No CF yet.

the little dents are not that bad - you can hardly see them but i know its there and it's killin me everytime i look at the car

i think im having bad luck or maybe you can call this good luck
- i had the car park yesterday on the driveway and some kids were playing football - one of them threw the ball wrong and it was headed towards my car - it barely made it over the car and when it hit the sidewalk it bounced back over the car to the driver side and rolled on the grass - my heart started pounding - i felt like killing those kids

well my mazda 3 killed its first bird today, i thought for sure it would have left a mark, but thank goodness for aerodynamics, it flew at the headlights, and the rush of wind over my car blew the bird up above my car only by inches and i saw it out my rear view plumit straight down onto the asphault from the downforce of the rear, I was goinf about 65 and a I saw a few feathers flying and then the truck behind me tried to swirve but i think it had to have been dead on impact with the ground! Mazda 3s are so mean to birds :-) (rockon)
