The hid were installed by the previous owner. They are helio 600k HID. The left light started to die out on me. It will light up and go out. If I turn all the lights off and turn it back on it will stay on for seconds and die again. Is it the bulb? If you have any input it is welcome.

Thanks

When my fish tank light (metal halide) starts cycling it means its due for a new bulb. As the bulb heats up it requires more voltage to keep the arc going. As the bulb ages it takes more voltage to keep the arc going. So, as the bulb gets older the arc will extinguish once the voltage level exceeds the what the ballast provides. I'm guessing turning it off is giving it a slight cool down enabling you to get it to run a short while longer. If you leave the lights on even after the left bulb goes out, see if it eventually comes back on its own (without turning the lights on and off). This would indicate cycling.

i'm thinking theres something wrong wit the ballast. u got the helio HID so i'm thinking the previous owner got it from xenon shop in which u wont get ur warranty upheld for the lifetime warranty. if theres something wrong wit ur ballast, i think its best to get a new HID kit. ya should check this thread out because the person who was selling them, skipped out town..

i remember reading somewhere on the forums that when the light would go on, it would flicker off and would happen a few times more. plus people were not complaining about the bulbs on the helio kits, they were complaing about the ballasts. i could be wrong.

ya can try switch the bulbs wit the passenger to drivers side to see if its the bulb or ballast. hehe found that in this thread http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123663549&highlight=ballast+problem

dude i'm just trying to help..he said any input is welcomed..

Why do you think there's something wrong with the ballast?

My intentions weren't to offend you. I was just making sure you helped spread the knowledge. (rockon) Now that you've included why you suggested the ballast lyndonvang can make a better educated guess as to the cause of the problem.

lol sorry. hehe that bold print kinda got to me xD peace (hippy)

O.k. I just tried it out and it is the bulb. Where do you guys think I can find some 6k hid bulbs? The ones that I had were hi/low beam hid and I would like to buy the same type. I tried looking at the helios site and it looks like they only do holesale or something. I'll post a wtb at the sale page.

there are many for sale on ebay,fo like 60-90$ a pair....or you can send an email to xenonexpert,he s got an hid store,he could sell you some!

Im not sure about fitment but i have seen color vary from kit to kit so i would go ahead and purchase both bulbs at once when you find the ones that fit. Especially since the passenger side will prolly be giving up the ghost shortly.

I do have to buy both because when My brother was helping me out he knocked my good bulb down and the hi beam broke.

I talked to the people at xenonexpert and they don't have the bulbs that i need. They said it would be cheaper to buy the whole kit.

is it the hid with the high halogen and the low hid,or the bixenon hid that mooves back and forth for the low and high?

I believe it is the high halogen and the low hid. Each side has two bulbs one for the low hid and the other for the high halogen.

oh,yes that type is more rare, but i think you should be able to find some on ebay...

if you have problems finding some, tell me i ll help you out...

I did find maybe 3 or 4 on ebay but I think the connectors dont mactch mine. The halogen connector looks different from my conncetor. Yeah its freakin had to find becasue I have to make sure that it works with my kit. If you find any LMK, it will be very helpful. I'll post pics of the connectors.

Thanks
