HED Headlight out/change

anybody know the approximate life of the HED headlights in a 2008 GT?

Mine are both currently good, however a friend has the same 2008 GT and he has one out and cannot figure out how to replace it. Any assistance would be appreciated.

This is from my owner's manual page 153 (Section 5-46) -

Xenon fusion headlight bulb*
The low-beam bulbs of the headlights
have xenon fusion bulbs that produce a
bright white beam over a wide area.

! WARNING
Do not replace the xenon fusion bulbs
yourself:
Replacing the xenon fusion bulbs
yourself is dangerous. Because the
xenon fusion bulbs require high
voltage, you could receive an electric
shock if the bulbs are handled
incorrectly. Consult an Authorized
Mazda Dealer when the replacement
is necessary.
NOTE
If the headlights flicker, or the brightness
weakens, the bulb-life may be depleted and a
replacement is necessary. Consult an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.

Page 367 (Section 10-60 lists the Xenon bulb as D2S

Now, don't think I gave you the warning information to say don't do it, I was just posting it to kinda make a point that if you can't figure out how to change the headlight bulb, leave it to someone who can. Search for posts about headlights bulbs and you'll probably find that most remove the front bumper even for the halogens. Here's some helpful info on HID - http://xenonexpert.com/faq.html. Remember to always replace them in pairs.
