Heated Seat - Upgrading switch to rotary switch

My CX-7 has an off/on switch for the heated seats. I see that there is a rotary switch with 5 heat settings that is the same size as the off/on. Can the rotary switch just be switched out, or is there more to it?

As a novice, I'd be interested in an answer to this question, also. It doesn't take much for the single setting to become far too warm.
