okay... i have zero luck with my stereo.. JUST 2 days after i replace my fried 4 channel amp, the headunit freaks out. Now it folds in when i turn the car on, it flips out and stays in "take the faceplate" position when the power is off.

any ideas??

wait!! it's back! i had to slide dfaceplate out, wait for the bracket to sit up, snap the faceplate back in and quickly reset it by pressing the white button -- before the faceplate could flip into the dash. took some manual dexterity.

crazy ass headunit....

hayula: you got it... you have to take off the face plate, put it back on and quickly press and hold the white reset button.

I have to do this once or twice a month... it's annoying, but I have become EXTREMELY proficient at reprogramming all my settings lol

There is a very easy way to fix this problem, but you first have to understand why the problem is occurring.

The detachable face shorts itself out, shows crazy horizontal red lines, then flips half-way down because the metal-to-metal "data" connections between the detachable face and the main unit are overlapping. If the detachable face is too far to the left or right, the metal connections will overlap, causing the short.

They key, is to align the detachable face exactly right, so the alignment of the metal-to-metal connections is right-on.

The cause of this misalignment (and short) can be attributed to one of the two spring plates that hold the detachable face in place giving way a bit.

You can easily fix it by stretching the "problem spring" back out again. Thereby, adjusting (by only a few millimeters) the horizontal position of the detachable face, so that the metal-to-metal "data" connections can no longer overlap.

Furthermore, as you can see from the attached pic, you can as I did, insert something (like a small piece of foam) to strengthen and keep the "problem spring" from ever bending back in again.

After I fixed mine this way, I've never had the "flip-down" problem again.

Resetting is NOT the answer, it totally causes more work to have to reset the clock, stations and audio settings over and over.

Hope this helped.

I've tried placing something to push it over... once again no luck.
