Got a price from a repair shop to install new headlights in '95 auto sedan - $560.00!!
Currently the lenses have a dark gray haze. Used a product from auto parts store and it helped a little but now the haze is worse. Would like new headlights but not sure how to install them.

How many screws/fasteners are involved and are any hidden or hard to get to? Any special contortions needed to get the assembly out or in? Anything you can let me know about is appreciated.

well i have a 97 but it should be the same basic setup. first i wouldnt go through a shop-i would try to buy the headlights on ebay or jc whitney or some other aftermarket place(maybe autozone, but they can be expensive). then i believe the only thing holding the headlight in place is three bolts behind the housing-im quite sure that you dont need any special tools to take out your old ones. i was just looking at then because i have the same problem-imma try to clean them, but if it doesnt help then i'll have to do the same. also try to use search to find out how other guys did it on this forum-i have seen some bad headlights turn really nice, and its the least expensive option(cool)

try wetsanding and compounding them.

youll get much better results than with plastX

Yes I have wet sanded and then used mothers powerball to take the fine scratches away. Works wonders. I started with like 800gt wet, 1600gt, 1800gt, then 2200. Then powerballed it.

ILO, for goodness' sake, replace them yourself. It's not rocket science. You may have to take off the bumper or some of the fender bolts but it's easy. The most you will complain about is time spent on it but not difficulty. I will PM you with info.

NCZ13 & 91 Protege

The sanding may work well but how long will it last? How often do you have to do it?

you wont have to sand often.

If you keep the headlights sealed (not waxed) with a synthetic sealant, they last a bit longer.

i would say they will start to haze again in 5 months?

the hazing is caused by road grime and the plastic in the headlight breaking down from the UV rays from the sunlight, and from the lamp itself. the combination of the heat from both causes the plastic layers to deteriorate.
