So today i was replacing my pasenger side headlight lowbeam. As i was putting it in the hole and fidgeting with the metal clip in there...the metal clip snapped off...now i have no way to fasten the light bulb in there...the only thing i can think of is tape...has this ever happened to anyone?

Oh yes. If you look closely, you'll see that its a little plastic piece next to a small screw where the metal clip pivots. It'll still work because once you get it clipped in, the clip is pushing up and agaisnt the screw. Its a real PITA to get the bulb clipped in though. I can't really descrive how to do it, you'll just need to play with it.
i had to put in my pass. HID light in a parking lot at night with my only light source coming from a little LED flashlight.
its much easier to just remove the headlights to do it and not worry about breaking the clips. I dunno why mazda didnt make the low beams like the high beams which screw in.

I used a paperclip to fabricate one for my old set. I will third the motion to just remove the bumper. It isn't hard and it will be soooooo much easier for you to 1)replace the clip, if you can or 2)fabricate something with the light off of the car.

Seriously...I'm so done with these stupid clips. It wouldn't be so bad if the bulbs didn't burn out every couple of months.

I had the same problem on my drivers side. Someone else posted on the board about it too awhile ago and I tried their fix which was use silicone and so far so good.
