Headlight options?

Hopefully someone can chime in, I have a 2007 MS3 with the auto leveling HID headlight assemblies and the edges have started to yellow. The lense it self is also starting to "delaminate" in some spots. I've used plastic polish, various restoration kits and cleaners to no avail. The results are iffy and temporary. I've found full replacement assemblies for $500+ with the motors. Has anyone used the standard headlamp assemblies in place of the auto leveling units? I don't mind some wiring or by passing the motors, just not at the expense of causing issues. Thanks in advance!

Did you try wet sanding? can you post some pictures?

I used a restoration kit that was basically wet sanding and polishing, it didn't make that much of a difference. I'd hate to sand too much and make them look worse. I'll grab pictures after work.
