Headlight/foglight bulbs for best visibility

I know many of you have swapped in newer bulbs for a better look, but I'm looking for something functional. I want to see farther down the road, and of course more of a pure white color wouldn't hurt either. Anyone have any recommendations from experience with headlight and foglight replacement bulbs? I am not interested in HID kits, plug in bulbs only.

Got the PIAA xtreme-white bulbs on my car and it was a great improvement over stock. They are a lot brighter, I see better with these than with the HID of the Mazdaspeed3 I had. On high beams it's soooo bright :)
I have the Corksport LED fogs but they don't match the xtreme white bulbs. The LED's are 5,000k and the xtreme white is 4,000k... I'm switching to 5,000k PIAA plasma GT-X soon and giving my xtreme white to my wife.
Future new bulbs

At the moment bulbs, still great but they don't match the LED's from the fogs :( lol

My wife has the GE nighthawks and the suck. The PIAA so far are doing the job.
I had the SilverStar on my old Focus and they died with in 6months, I switched for new ones thinking it was just a bad set and they died in the same amount of time as the 1st set. So I switched to PIAA and never had a problem, this is why every halo bulbs that I change come from them, it's costly but they work great :)

Nope, I always used xtreme white. They are 4,000k and really bright

You can always try the xtreme vision and give us a review on them ;) Are they less money than the PIAA? Tire Rack had the PIAA at 50% off a while ago

I noticed the Phillips do not have any tint on the glass so I may try those over the PIAA. The Plasma GT-X looks really cool but I'm going for all-out visibility over cosmetics. When I think about how easy it is to get better night visibility I'm surprised I didn't think to change the bulbs out until now.

GTX is brighter than the Xtreme white
GTX is 60/55W=135/120 Watt
Xtreme white is 60/55=110/100 watt

Good article, alot of that stuff I have heard before and I was always skeptical of the bluish type bulbs anyways. I bought the PIAA Night-Tech for the headlights, sounded pretty good from the amazon reviews. If I like it maybe I'll use it for the fogs too...just need to look up which bulb I need for those.

Definitely phillips.. clean white.. no blinding.. no yellow.. no led or ballasts..I went hella yellow fogs. Turned out to be a very good setup for functionality.

I've had good luck with Philips BlueVision; they give off a nice white light but last longer than Silverstars. I'd heard of the Xtreme Vision and I'll probably get a set of those soon for our other 2.

I still haven't been finding many reviews on the night tech bulbs other than amazon. I'd like to compare them with the xtreme's to see which bulb has the farthest reach but I don't feel like buying an extra set of bulbs to do it. The night tech's get here tomorrow so maybe I'll have a chance to test them out this weekend.

So far all I can say is the night tech bulbs give off slightly whiter light than stock, and have some blue reflection in the housings. I'll post a functional review once I drive at night with them (may be awhile). I decided I'll be ordering the PIAA yellow bulbs for my fogs and the Phillips xtreme vision for the low beams in the 5. Not sure what I want to use for high beams in the 5 yet, its a separate bulb.
