Headers (Again!)

OK. So, what's the total scoop? Who makes header(s):

1) Fit P5
2) Use O2 sensors so we don't get a CEL
3) Bolt-up to cat-back systems (say, SR Motorsports)
4) Require no sawing, welding, etc..

In other words, bolt-on headers, which will hook up to cat-backs, with no real custom work done.

Does this exist? I'd like an SR cat-back, and headers, but obviously want to retain the O2 sensor and Primary Cat.

the only header out there that has actually been produced that kept all cats and sensors and was a direct bolt-on is the one made by traveler. i think it costs $460, but it sure looks sweet. if you search under traveler header, you will find some pics. i'm headed to bed, else i would find the links for you... good luck! oh yeah, traveler said the biggest bottleneck are the cats and the downpipe... might want to look into that as well.

I just received the lastest header from AWR and it looks good. It's a SS 4-2-1, has two O2 bosses and the EGR boss in the right place. Looks like it will clear the lower water hose OK too, and shouldn't require any modification. Workmanship is first rate with very clean welds and smooth bends. Bathroom scale says 18 lbs.

I should have it on next weekend and will report back on fit.

I can't wait

to hear how it fits and how much of a difference it makes. Please keep us informed

Please post up some pics (even before you install it.) Mine should be here this week..... grrrrrr. I've been waiting over two weeks now.

I'll have a dyno run done after the install as well. My baseline was ~107 HP / ~110 Lb/Ft TQ (Automatic trans, Injen CAI, RB catback, Mobil1, Sparkco wires, 4 gauge grounds.) Hopefully this, and the J-spec intake cam will bring me up another +10 HP or so.

Again, please post some pics!!!! I want to see what I'm actually getting. The pics in the above reference are not what we get. They're pics of the original racing header without EGR, O2, etc.

Thanks,
Jim

MackDaddy: very nice pictures...it looks like AWR has finally made a 4-2-1 header for our 2.0L engines that will not throw CEL all the time, since everything seems to be retained...

any specs on the welding?

I can install this, a hi-flow cat and a nice catback and voila!!! full exhaust job....

let us know how it turns out on the dyno sheet and under your right foot...also some post install pics....

thanks

Thanks man. :)

Hopefully this will work. I posted in the other header thread that the mounting flange for the cylinder head is not flat. It's got a slight warp. This may, or may not turn out to be a problem. Either way, I'm sure Tony will take care of it if need be.

CEL/MIL is not an issue with me. PonyExpress has a fix for ~ $20. I know they work, as I used one on my WRX.

Stay tuned for more data..... :D

What's this PonyExpress fix you talk of?
