Headers 4-2-1 vs 4-1

Hey. This has been discused before, i cant seem to be able to find the thread though, but anyhow, i`m sure that many have had some new experiances with each. So my question is, which do you guys like best in our car, given the 4-2-1 gives better mid range and the 4-1 better high end. Also, I can find lots of 4-1 (well thoes OBX on ebay) but i seem to have a hard time finding a 4-2-1, any links?

Only 4-2-1 that comes to right to mind is the AWR racing header. Ractive might have made one along with the 4-2???

This fits the block but you will have to modify your mid-pipe and egr pipe to mate with it.

Cool.. i cant open it now seeing it blocks me here at work. Does anyone have any experiance with a 4-2-1?

its a obx/ebay header for a probe/mx-6 they had the same engine just a different exhaust setup

The only 4-2-1 (stock fitting) offered are the AWR (discountinued), Autoexe (hella expensive, but SO beautiful) and the Genie header (discontinued, I think).

4-1: Ractive, OBX, Pacemaker, Thunder, ebay crap.

I figured anything off ebay would be crap.. that is why i actualy started this thread.. I know mazdaspeed had one too, but i imagen it is also discontinued seeing i can not find it anywhere on their website.

the mazdaspeed division had a header for our car.. i had found one once. here is the link, i`m not sure if it works cause i cant open it here at work..

I checked out Autoexe but could not find anything on the protege`s.. i have to admit i did not look hard hahahaaha will do later... that is a sweet header though...

I saw you had a pic of another one on your build thread.. which is that one?

contact dave (***************) here on the forum...its a 4-1 but im happy with it so far and its only been on the car two days. very good build qaulity imo and no fitment issues whatsoever. good price too.

Are you saying that's the one amair has? He says he has a 4-2-1, this is a 4-1 (looks like an OBX or a Thunder), which would not help my build due to the short runners.

hahaha freggen guy! takes the one header! hahaha jk.. you`re a little ahead (and by alittle i mean alot) on that project.. i thought you had a header.. or is it a 4-1? I`ll buy it off you if you get something else.

It's just a shorty (replaces the stock boat anchor). It does make some difference, but not as much as a full header (I also have a 2.4" j-pipe). Combine those pieces with a punched 1st cat (kinda defeats the purpose of my header), and you have something close to an OBX, but not quite.
