Header!?/ meanest typo ever?

Looking through the February issue of SCC I noticed something that got me pretty excited. There was an advertisement for HPRACING that had the 2001 civic race header as well as other things. That wan't what got me excited though. Next to the header was a bunch of other car names (which I assumed were models that they made headers for.) I assumed this because the rest of the products have names linked to the specific part. For example, next to the R-SPEC exhaust is written, Accord, civic, RSX, WRX, etc. One of the names next to the header was "Protege" I damn near had a heart attack! Considering that the 2001 civic has a close-coupled cat like we have, which they relocated under the exhaust manifold, I got amped! They could have done that same procedure to out car! I immediately went to their web site and was disapointed to find there was no listing of either a 20001 civic header OR any protege header. (I do know for a fact that they make the 2001 civic header though.) I've emailed them multiple times and have gotten no response. Here is a link to the page of SCC which I scanned.

I hope that worked. If you can't tell, protege is listed fourth from the bottom. THAT I am sure of. If this IS a typo I'm going to kill someone!
Let me know what you guys think.

hp racing is coming out with the header it will remove the primary cat and it wont be available until april...maybe is was just a COCK TEASE...

hey JOHN when is ya car coming back????

I know how you feel, it pisses me off too. I pick up SCC and what do I see - civic this, and civic that - Type R here, Type R there. I find the word Protege in there one time, and find they only carry light bulbs or some s*** like that. It ain't no typo. The bastards are rubbing it in.

If you want to get really pissed off, consider all the aftermarket parts for the Focus. World wide it has a similar market share to the Protege, but because Ford jumps into WRC, Focus parts spring up like weeds.

Nopi has the HP Racing headers listed for sale now WTF?

CHEAP A$$ HEADER AT NOPI!!!!

I saw the header you were talking about on the Nopi site. It is CHEAP! I cant believe that price. That has to be a typo. If not, all you people that are not going turbo should jump on that deal before they fix it. To be exact, they are $206.90 for ceramic coated and $173.79 for polished stainless steel. Great deal! Make sure it's for the 2.0L though

Hmmm.....

I hope this isn't some kind of April Fools joke! I'll get one of my buddies to take out their freakin website! hehe Just kidding...or am I???
;) Anyway, I can't find the header on the NOPI site. I do the search by the make, then the model, and when I click on the year it ALWAYS says, "The Parameter Is Incorrect" It's been doing this for days! I tried searching the site the same day I found HPRACING's ad. If any of you could make a thread to the EXACT location where the header is listed I'd appreciate it. I'm hoping that would work. Man, ever since I saw that HPRACING ad it's been an emotional rollercoaster. I hope this works out.
I'm going to try their customer service line tonight: 1-800-277-NOPI Ext 260, 262. If anyone calls it before me, please post what you find out.

Could this be the header we've all been waiting for?

Here's the direct link jonlisle20...hope it works for you

hmmm bizarre I tried to post it directly in a URL for you but it does exactly the problem, but when I paste the link directly into explorer, it works fine.

Well I've tried to fix it but it just won't work...sorry.

huh??

Huh. I just tried internet explorer and NOPI's site worked! Weird. Well it looks legit to me. It seems the price listed is not a typo at all. As you can see here:
2001 Protege Header (CERAMIC)
Part Number: 251+1070
$307.69 Sugg. Retail Price
$206.90 Your Price

Header PROTEGE 2001 (stainless)
Part Number: 251+1063
$258.46 Sugg. Retail Price
$173.79 Your Price

they know exactly how much they are charging. Man, I can't complain. This is a great deal. Only a couple things left to do. See if it is for the 2.0, find out if it gets rid of the primary cat, and is it a bolt-on (no modifications or alterations necessary like the egr valve, sensors, etc.)

I'll talk to you guys later. So far so good. :D

let me know what u find out... maybe that can be the next step of my big plans....heehee

Pricing seems backwards...

I also saw the headers on the NOPI site but usually, polished are more expensive than ceramic coated. It's that way with most products. If it is truly $173, then that's cheap. However, HP Racing, how good is the quality?

For under $200! Even if it's a POS, it's worth a try. If nothing else it will get me by until a better one comes out. I'm giving them a call.

I couldn't get through on the phone, so I off-d an email -
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Word is out you guys are offering an exhaust header for the 2001 Protege. I here this header is built by HP Racing, but HP's web site doesn't list the Protege application, so I thought I'd contact you. I tried a few times calling, but the line was busy.

What I'd like to know is the tube size, and the design, as in 4 into 1 or 4-2-1? Also, is the listed application for the 2001 and 2002 generation 3, 2.0L FS-DE motor? Is it truely available now, at the price posted?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I figure if the tube size isn't any bigger than 1-3/4" it's worth a try.

The more people looking for info the better. I couldn't get through to them on the phone either. The line was busy just about all day. Oh and I sent them an email today at about 1 o'clock. I too will let you know if I hear anything.
As for the details of the header, they are both 4-2-1, 2 pieces designs.
mah p5, my girlfriend has a 97 Civic and got her HPRacing polished 4-2-1 header for $220 bucks. Great gains for a great price! Would recomend them to anyone looking for the best-bang for-your-buck. (Speaking of my girlfriend's civic, I am so envious of the civic's aftermarket support! She just got a chrome CAI system for $80 from www.airdynamicracing.com!! Don't bother looking, there's nothing for us there.) :( Anyway, you can look in the March issue of Super Street and find a Civic and an Accord that have HPRacing headers. (Just off the top of my head) I can scan the pages into my photo album if you're really interested.
I just finished exploring www.nopi.com and found a body kit, camber adjustment kit, as well as some other interesting stuff. Not bad, not bad at all. Don't forget to sign up and have them send you emails about new parts for our cars. Talk to you guys later, Jon.

I got a reply back from NOPI on the email I sent them yesterday. The header is not available, and they couldn't say when it would be. No specs available yet either, it figures.

By my count there are now 3 sources that claim to be producing a pipe for the gen 3 Pro, and none of them seem to be in a hurry to get to market with them.

Does this kill both Cats?

Anyone know if this kills both cats?
I want to retail at least the main, and hope that the CHK ENGINE LIGHT DOESNT COME ON, am I dreaming here?

It figures!

Somehow I knew something would go wrong. Maybe we should get a whole sh*tload of people from the forum to email them (or start a new topic) showing interest. Not just a half-assed attempt either. I'm talking about ANYONE who would even consider buying a header for their Protege. There may be enough of us interested to get them started earlier.
I don't know about you guys, but I want the header to include a high flow cat. Just like the 2001 Civic header they make which relocates the cat to a more performance oriented position. You can see this header in their ad if you go to my photo album link above. The cat shouldn't hurt performance, and you wouldn't have to worry about tricking the ECU.. Damn that's annoying.
So what do you guys think?

Well, if it's a necessary peice for a turbo, I'm in. What exactly does it do anyway...just lower exhaust restrictions? Where does it sit? How much HP gains to a stock mp3 are we talking?

Guys, there may be complications on their end, but it looks as though AWRRacing has a 4-2-1 header for the P5. I don't know if it applies to the MP3 as well, but thought I'd bring it up.
Post any opinions on if this would be a good buy!
