Header for FP-DE (1.8 l)?

Hi

I have a couple of questions:

1: Are there any headers available for the 1.8 liter Protege? I know the MazdaSpeed is claimed to fit both, but I think thats just because it really dosn't fit either.

2: Did anybody ever install a 2.0 header on a 1.8 car? It MUST be possible with the right skills.


I'm not concerned about the primary cat, because it does not exist on E-specs, but I'd be interested in what you did with the EGR pipe.

The head is exactly the same for both the 2.0 liter and 1.8 liter. So it will bolt up just fine.

Some in other threads have said that it won't work as a direct bolt on - I'm not so sure about it, and have kept myself in the RM Header group buy.

What I don't like about the RM header is that it will eliminate both cats, unless you get one put in the test pipe (more $$, of course.)

The Ractive one that is supposidly available in Canada and hopefully shortly in the states, looks more appealing, as it bolts to the second cat. And $140 cheaper...

I agree that one or both of the above headers should fit without much trouble, if any. I have a parts listing for both the FP-DE and FS engines - the header will certainly bolt to the head (as m entioned above, same head, same exhaust gasket).. - The question will be about the flange after the cat, and the total length. The pipe part #'s are different in the parts listing, so who knows for sure without two side-by-side.
