Head Flow

yep i love that site...i've downloaded all the pages and printed them out and had them bound into a nice folder

the workshop manual unfortunately doesnt go into performance issues we're interested in. it's mainly torque specs and how-to's

Woohoo, here you go:

Intake 183 cfm
Exhaust 164 cfm

Courtesy of Blake at Sunbelt.

Please, please let us know the results

I just have to say thanks very very much to james for finding that out for us!!!!!

now if only we knew what pressure of water or what flow test machine they used to i can compair to what i am told today when i pick up the head (thursday in australia).

i'll post here as soon as i know

Well s***, I'll call him back and ask. anything else? They were interested in your results. No surprise there, I'm sure if somebody can pull better numbers than theirs, they'd want to know how.

JT

Ok, and about those numbers for the skeptics out there, they weren't just someboby's recollection or opinion. They looked them up on a computer and read them back to me. Twilight said they seem high, so I'll get back with Blake to find out how they flowtest. That to come tomorrow, unless they're at Road Atlanta 'cuz the Petit Lemans is here this weekend and I believe the WC cars are here, too.

sorry for all the running around james, but hopefully it'll be able to be put in a FAQ here for everyone future reference.

Some news on my head...damn mazda...they still havent sent the gaskets and valve stem seals to the head place...so i mightnt be picking up the head until friday arvo....fingers cross i do because this weekend is the last weekend i can install it onto my car!!!

and for everyone, as soon as i get my head back with flow details, i'll post them here

No problem, I'm going to want Sunbelt to do some future work for me so it's nice to build some sort of relationship with them.

Hey, all this talk of getting head is making horny.(bj)

Talk at ya later, (jerkit)

(always wanted to use thiose smilies)

good use of them...esp when we're talking about head jobs ;) hehehehe

good idea to get a bit of a relationship with them, very good :D

Oh cool, you got the numbers!

I was just checking one last time because I live about 2 miles from Sunbelt and was planning on stopping on my way to work and ask them for you.

i just wish i had kick ass mazda performance people here in australia....all the mazda people here are rotory heads.

What's wrong with rotary heads? =) Hehee.

That aside, how long before you get the data and head back? I've been waiting to hear about you getting this done since I first read about what you had planned. ;)

hehe, rotary heads (spin)

Ok, the heads were flow tested on a "Flowbench" machine, it's all computerized, so no other parameters. Hope that's enough for you. And yeah, let's hear the numbers!!
