I dont think our cars have an oil cooler but has anyone thought about or put on an oil cooler? i think that may be my next thing for my car... my philosophy is that for every performance mod you add you should add something that will increase the longevity and reliability of the car... but gasoline engines are a little different than what i used to do performance stuff to.... i had a turbo diesel Golf.. i loved that car.... anyways... lol

Summit sells the B&M oil cooler kit for $109+shipping. It relocates the oil filter too, which is a definate plus. I'm not buying one though, I see no need to add an oil cooler with the engine still pushing stock HP levels. Spoolin could use one though.:D All in all, the oil cooler idea is a good one.

Oil coolers are a good idea, but if you live where it gets cold in the winter, it may keep the oil from even reaching optimum driving temperatures, which isn't good.

For example - there are tons of oil cooler/filter relocation kits for the Miatas, but most come with an optional shroud to cover the unit during the winter.

Probably not worth the time, effort, or cash unless you're raising horsepower significantly, too.

On stock hp levels or even N/A modified levels a oilcooler is virtually a waste of money. The only thing that would warrant a purchase of an oilcooler is going turbo since the oil from the motor is used to lubricate and cool the turbo hence drastically raising oil temps to extreme levels. And a proper cool down about a minute or 2 (or a turbo timer) should suffice unless you circuit or autocross race your car with a turbo then you should think about an oilcooler.
