Has any one installed 4" speakers in the dash?

Hi,

I'm planning my audio upgrade and after reading through thousands of post still has a few questions =)

The number one question is has any one installed a 4 inch speaker into the dash?
I understand that factory comes with 3.5" dash speaker, and I thought I've read some where someone some where did a 4" install, but I couldn't find the post again...

This is what I'm planning if all works..

Deck: Alpine ICS-X8
Dash: 3.5 Inch Infinity Reference X REF-3002cfx (I would like to get a 4" instead)
Front: 6.5" Infinity 6502ix
Rear: 8" mid bass Rockford Fosgate PPS4-6
AMP: an old Alpine V12

Basically, i'm trying to have a really strong volcal front stage. So that's why I wanted a 4" in the dash and then perhaps just midbass in the doors - and a shallow woofer in the rear door.

Would be much appreciated if someone would show me a picture or two of their 4" dash speaker install, so I'm aware what needs to be cut/trimmed.

I have barelly pushed in a 3.5" in there. There are some plastic pieces under the speakers and those could cause fitthing issues. If you would find a 4" with the same hight as the 3.5" Polk's, then they may fit. Diameter wise, there is not much room either.

Thank you for the reply. I think it has to be a 3 1/2 then, unless of course I raise the plastic trim! =P

Or you can get in there and cut out those plastic parts.
