Hardcore wheel cleaning

Hey guys,

I'm in need of a recommendation for a wheel cleaner. I have alloy wheels that I purchased used. When I bought them they had a little bit of brake dust that seemed to be embedded in the wheel as I was unable to get it out with traditional soaps and power washings. I've been super busy so I haven't been the best with keeping everything clean. If anyone can recommend some hardcore wheel cleaning product that won't completely destroy my wheel I'd really appreciate it.

I have used Chemical Guys Diablo Gel Rim and wheel cleaner on my bronze Volk ce28, and I was very particular in choosing the right cleaner. I wanted something safe on all finishes and didn't want to risk anything, and these worked out very well. I was going to get the more expensive p21s but decided to go with these and worked well. I had brake dust embedded as well, but after 2:1 ratio and some scrubbing it began to come off. Plus smells like bubblegum.

try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. had about 2-3 months of brake dust caked on my factory alloys and Mr. Clean took care of business w/ minimal effort.

spray your wheels with some water, then wet the "sponge" followed by wringing it out (mainly just getting the sponge damp, but you dont want it dripping wet). next just apply the sponge to your wheels and rub away. if it's really baked on, you might have to use a little more elbow grease. the eraser should soak up the brake dust thoroughly, so you'll need to rinse the sponge out as it accumulates the crud. wring out again and continue as before. One sponge should get you through all 4 wheels.

you can pick up a box at your local automotive part store or walmart. Four come in a box

autogylm custom wheel clean is also very good. i second, diablo wheelgel or sticky gel as wheel.

Meguiars APC followed up with a clay bar will be another cheap option. Whenever I clean my wheels I just go with the all around 50/50 ISO blend.

cool, i ordered the Chemical Guys Diablo Gel Rim and Wheel Cleaner. any suggestions on what type of applicator to use that will work best? will a regular sponge with some elbow grease due to the trick?
