hard wiring radar detector - help needed

I bought an Escort 8500 x50 and the direct wire smart cord. Has anyone installed this? Can someone give me tips/pointers/walkthrough?

I recall a pretty good "How To" on this topic where someone wired it into the map lighting area. Try searching that area...

I wired my V1 to the fusebox under the glovebox and ran the wire up the inside of the a pillar and around the header to the rearview mirror. I keep it up there out of sight of the casual prying eyes.

I wired my 8500 into the cig lighter using wire taps.

Mine is wired into the harness in the lower left kick panel. Same place as the homelink mirror.
