Haltech msp proven! Dyno graphs inside.

how hard was the haltech to setup on the car? Does it allow for good day to day driving or is this a track only vehicle now? Did you have to purchase anything along with the haltech to get it running right (additional sensors, connectors etc.) i am still pretty new to the ems world so excuse my newbness.

Very,very impressive. (2thumbs)

The haltech e6x from Juan at high boost comes with either a flying lead harness or a protege specific harness (already trimmed and everything for the protege).

It comes with all sensors needed i.e air temp, coolant. You will need to purchase a 3 bar or 2 bar map sensor from Juan for an additional 80 bucks or so so that way you can tune to 30 psi for the 3 bar or like 22 or so with the 2 bar.

The two bar sensor will be easier to tune, but not by much.

The cost for me for the haltech e6x wiring harness for the protege 3 bar map sensor and haltech boost controller was right about 1350. Add in the wrx injectors (150 bucks) and high flow fuel pump (100 bucks) and then you are ready to go. So for about 1600 total you are ready to go.

The hardest part of the haltech install is tapping the water neck for the coolant temp sensor. Other than that, the install is very straight forward.

in regard to the day to day driveability, the car is great ***after it warms up***.

That is the one thing about the haltech that is a bit of a pain, i.e. the cold starts. It will need to warm up for a few minutes before ready to drive nicely.

All in all i think the trade off is very nice. You are able to control your timing and fuel very finely (and i mean VERY finely).

I think if you are going with an aftermarket turbo, this is the way to go honestly.

wow, that was like the dream responce! I dont even have a follow up question about the Haltech. You really are da man (2thumbs)

Are you running the stock wheels or have you changed to a different setup?

Do you have any plans to beef up the trans?

different wheels. 5zigen rx-6 in 16x7 with falken azenis sport tires (215/45/16)

PS they made a big difference.

Is there a way to fix the cold-start performance (obviously for drivability, not driving hard)? Is this something that you plan on doing before winter?

the trannies can hold the power IMO, has anyone broke one yet? i haven't heard of it, people were just speculating since the autos suck the manuals must suck too...the only thing i can think of breakin is the axles(reason i bought the axles from dss)...unless you are running like 400whp or something rediculous, then yes, there will probably be discrepincies...

hey azian6er, don't drag on those azenis. if you didn't know, 1fastmp5 (mike) had them on his car and tried dragging with them, and he said that the stock dunlops from a p5 grip better than the azenis because the azenis have such stiff sidewalls and will not hook up very well on the track. the 13.9 that 1fastmp5 got was on those dunlops, not the azenis, i think. either way, it was a street tire. the azenis will make for great track tires, but arent' so great for the dragstrip.

btw, nice numbers !

right! except i ran 13.9 on the azenis not the dunlops. if i had d/r i would have got low to mid 13's out of that run. dont run without d/r you have way to much power, you will spin the s*** out of the azeins. good luck bro(rockon)
