H&R lowering springs before and after pics

just picked up a set of motegi traklite 15x7 4x100 +35 with caps @10lbs for 620.00 NIB now will be looking for tires probably 205/50x15 based on what others are using this seems to be the tire of choice

ive been looking at these tires
dunlop direzza
falken ziex
toyo proxes 4
yokahama s.drive
there were many other great tires that either didnt make my size or were priced out of range, and after reading everything i could from each manufacturer i started reading user reviews .i had to weed out all the heavy/larger cars and go with just a similar size car etc. all have good and bad points but heres what most in this catagory are saying..the direzza's high speeds are loud and only get louder with wear awesome in dry questionable in wet even though they are suposed to be a wet tire wear quick.falken's most say are crap and to stay away..s.drives hard 50/50 either love them or hate them and i put the in the hate catagory because all who hated them lived in similar climate to me..proxes got the best overall reviews and to my surprise aer a great wet tire based on many reviews from the westcaost which is wet so i decided on toyo proxes 4 195/50x15
another ebay score set for $380.00 shipped

That's a good call. Although, of all those tires, I'd put the Star Spec Direzza's on top, followed by the S-drives/Proxes from a performance standpoint. I'd personally probably go with the S-drives or the Falken 912 based purely on price.

I've had a couple sets of the ziex 912 in the past and was pleased (on an '88 crx, and an '03 forester). Price point definately helped my decision, but I was pleased with wet and dry grip. Also did decent on gravel roads and snow. I'm not sure why the nobody seems to like the new ziex...now the older 512's are a different story. Didn't perform nearly as well, and wore out much more quickly.

S.drives have been sweet, much better grip than the stock Yoko S34s (of course)
As for road noise, highway is still (fairly) noisey, but it's a lower noise than the stocks...if that makes sense.
I figure it can't get much quieter considering our cars sound proofing...or lack thereof.

We all have the same selection to choose from, so please let us know how those Proxys turn out!

the direzza i was looking at are the dz101 becuase the star specs are just to much money..the s.drives are questionable they have been chunking away in colder climates which is where i live ,but the proxes have had good consistant feedback from most who use them specifically those here on the wetcoast ..as for falkens my son has them on his metro and they are down right dangerous imo bad tire at best, but price is awesome..id rather spend an extra 100bucks and get a quality tire..they look good to

Does your son have the falken 512's or 912's? Sounds like its the 512...I can't imagine the 912's would seem dangerous unless they were worn out or from defective batch. I drove my crx with them up over a snow and ice covered mountain labeled OHV only (long story) and didn't get stuck or fall off a cliff. Did have to get out the throw ropes to retreive a kayak though. And broke an exhaust hangar on my new race exhaust.

he has 512 ..the 912's are more money..im trying to stay under $400.00 shipped for a set but still have reasonable performance.there is much better tires than the proxes i choose to purchase but for the money they are a very good buy imo ofcoarse..i have never tried any of the tires ive mentioned just going on reviews and suggestions from others..

To whom ever said the falken 512's were dangerous and just crap I just can't agree with you there. I have a 98 VW gti VR6 with coilovers and 15x8 borbet Type A reps. I run the 512's with a little stretch, my front tires were worn down to almost cording due to really bad alignment issues issues from my lowered car. That was not the fault of the falkens. When I had the two front tires replaced and an alignment done right after I have had NO issues since then with any strange wear or noise. They have been on my car for 3 summers now and still looks to be in good condition. They handle quite well in the rain and has really good grip in the summer. I dont drive my gti in the winter and if I have too then i have my stock wheels for that. Bottom line is that my opinion about falken tires are that they are decent, good, well priced tire that i would buy again for my gti or even eventually when i get my rims for my 2.
