keep you fingers crossed for me. i live in new orleans and a MS3 isnt really a good car to drive in a flood.

What do you guys think I should do?
1. Park her on high ground/parking garage and throw a hurricane party
2. GET THE F OUT!!

Been watching this thing's progress. I'm in Tallahassee and we got oversoaked from Fay. Hoping it doesn't hit the Gulf Coast, but it looks imminent. Maybe it won't be as strong as they say it can be...or just dissipate. In anycase, I hope whichever area it affects will make it out OK without too much damage. Just bought a house last year. Re-thinking the Hurricane Insurance...

I wouldn't worry too much. FEMA will replace your MS3 with one made from high-grade, Made in the ol' US of A asbestos.

I don't think I'm in danger of being flooded, but I'm afraid of the flying debris/falling trees that might hit my car. It's under a carport next to a pine tree that's gotta be at least 80 ft. tall.

Also I work at the Louisiana Department of Insurance, so days off for you guys == overtime for me. GO AWAY GUSTAV!

That sucks, i'm gonna be in southern MS this weekend visiting the parents.
Good luck all you coastal people (including myself).

It's gonna be a b**** to get back north, ******* interstate gets pounded. Good thing I know MS like the back of my hand though! back roads FTW.

The other day, Accuweather had a more westerly projected path. Today, both The Weather Channel and Accuweather show very similar paths; with New Orleans smack in the middle of the cone. Of course, one could ask when was the last time a hurricane struck in the center of a projected cone... so maybe New Orleans is perfectly safe? ;-)

I would say... just pack a bag with things you need and just have things in order. Heck, if you don't use your trunk much, just leave stuff in the car. Of course, its not like these things generally move much faster than 15-20 M.P.H., so, even when the eye is 100 miles of the coast, you would still have a few hours to leave before the eye hit -- assuming of course the outer bands aren't ridiculously powerful.

Weather Channel's Projected Path

Accuweather's Projected Path

The interesting thing is that it looks like Accuweather has it potentially hitting New Orleans nearly a day sooner than The Weather Channel's prediction.

I live by pensecola flordia and I'm bouncing this afternoon because I have a feeling it's gonna come this way. Have an early vacation I guess. I'm heading east. I'm packing all of my s*** and taking my ms3 with me. I was gonna let it sit in the garage but hell with that. I'm at sea level. Just to be on the safe side ya know... I know the base here will probably get evacuated this weekend, they will probably find out tomorrow. All I know is I'm out

Depending on what happens when youre 2 days out or so, make the call then.

I'm in South FL and if it comes this way at all, i'm headed inland some as the flooding here, well, it's still fairly flooded and if we get anymore rain, the ground is already saturated and it'll just fill up even quicker now

Cat 2+ and I would get the hell out of dodge no matter where you are!

Pro5x2, you probably remember Wilma a couple of years back. That was a cat 1 and it was a nightmare! If any place is prepared to deal with a hurricane, it's S. FL and it still took some people a month to get power back on!

Keep monitoring the storm and check the projected path updates on here http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

If there is any chance of a category 2 or better hitting you then get the hell out of that city which is already below sea level to begin with.

Actually, for Wilma, i was living at my parents in Orlando. And, we were routed to the Hospital and Police station powergrid, so we didnt have power for about an hour or so then we were back up. Through all 3 storms.

I am scared to death of what will happen when a hurricaine hits when I"m down here. I heard the block I live on now didn't hve power for a month. And no power means no toilits cause the sewage is on lift stations and grinders .

Anything over a cat 1-2 and I'm outa here

I'm not worried about my cars getting flooded at the house, it's ALL OF THE ROADS that get me places.

This is US1, our MAIN road to get north or south

There is a Median and 4 lanes of cement under there

That was just from Fay

And this is the day after the rains stopped. I couldn't get on this road the day before

Arent there 2 hurricanes forming? one coming up from the south and one coming in from the east? I wouldnt risk it but I'm a northerner, only seen pictures of what happens.
