It cuz jack at ion make everyone think they need it. (dunno)

Take it easy there. No need for that. I got my 3" turbo-back long before Jack even mentioned the iON system, and so did a bunch of other people. I'm tired of seeing so many people bashing iON in these totally unrelated threads. What has Jack or anyone at iON ever done to YOU???

Oh, and I heard from a couple of people that all of you guys at Protegefest had nothing but bad things to say about iON products. Stop with the slander right now. Those people that I mentioned were very interested in the iON FMIC untill going to Protegefest and being bombarded with negative comments. I wish that I could have been there to defend iON and their principle of function over form, but I had a medical situation come up, and could not make it due to doctor bills.

I have been off the forums lately, so this has been building up from several posts that I have read tonight.

To all of you that have been bashing iON lately:

iON Performance has done nothing but provide some of the best parts for our cars, and so many of you just talk s*** about stupid things. When iON was making the prototype FMIC, Jack came on here and asked us if we wanted a system that had very little pressure drop but would require some cutting for the piping route... or if we wanted a system that required no cutting and had a slightly higher pressure drop. Everybody who responded to that thread wanted the system with less drop, and they made it. Now all I see is people b**** about the cutting that you need to do, and that the IC core sits like 1" off center. What do you add a FMIC for? For the looks so everyone can see your purdy new IC? Or for the performance of it? The routing of the iON FMIC piping is the straightest path you can possibly have with our setup, plain and simple. If having your core sit 1" to the right and having to cut some little holes in the radiator support is to high of a price to pay for that, then good luck to you and your car.

i agree with not bashing on our VERY few vendors!!!!!! but i never heard anyone bashing ION @ protegefest! that doesnt sound like the mocc heads i know.....maybe someone was there that had a bad experience with them or something?

I'm sure it was a good time, I was really looking forward to being there and was really bummed when I got sick. I just know a couple of people from the forums who I talked to afterwards that said iON was badmouthed there. I have no problem with you or anyone who ran the event... at all. I really wanted to meet all of you that I have chatted with, and read posts from for almost a year. I just want to stand up for iON because I agree with their philoshiphy. I don't mind having an IC core that is slightly off center, because I installed the thing myself and cut the holes for the pipes so I understand WHY the core is where it is. The work that they do is amazing, and I am just sick of the bashing that I have read and heard about over the last week.

Agreed.

My car was at protegefest with ION FMIC and exhaust. His products are top notch. While I didn't hear anyone bashing his products there personally I felt the atmosphere was very good.

Let's cut our vendors who are willing to support the community of a very limited run car some slack. And can we withold total judgment on the ION exhaust until the dynos come out on the turbo project car? I for one have been extremely happy with it and my off boost driveability has been very minimally impacte if at all. Turbo spools up quicker then it ever did before and in combination with my FMIC turbo lag is practically gone, I can get full spool up fairly early (don't want to put a number down because I am not 100% sure, but if memory serves I am fully spooled by 2500-2800rpm under hard accelleration.)

I never heard anybody bash ion. I would also like to know who said that. I don't think anyone on the board of directors heard that and we were everywhere. I'm sure ion makes very nice products, i seen a couple of them. I just think that some items are a little over priced. As always I appreciate all the aftermarket support we are getting.

iON does nothing but great work. lets get BACK onto topic though.

sitting patiently for more news on the Mazdaspeed USA parts... (rockon)

low backpressure = bad bottom end, and in the city bottom end is what u need most of the time.

YOU NEVER WANT BACKPRESSURE!!!

k, thx (spin)

Is the downpipe a bolt on replacement, can it be used with with the stock MSP muffler?
