guess on 75 lbs of torque

i am about to install my trz mm but i don't have a torque wrench. i am planning on just tightening the bolts a lil more than how i got it out. the torque specs are 65-80 so i figure i will do 73-75.

anyone know how approximately how many rotations that would be?

Go find a 75 lb kid, about 8 years old and pick him up. Now you know what 75 lbs feels like. Get a 1 foot long breaker bar and pull that hard. (cabpatch)

haha...the tricky part about this all is that the longer your wrench is (and the farther away from the end you hold it), the less effort it will take to get 75ft lbs of torque on the thing. honestly, this is why i just went and bought myself a torque wrench...^^;

im gona buy one anyway. i dont have one and its good to have. i need locktite too cuz my mounts coming soon

I always over torque s***. I just use a breaker bar and turn till it won't turn anymore, then give it one more good push for safe measure. Course, a buddy of mine jsut got an air compressor, so life just got tons easier for working on our cars.

75lbs of torque is 75lbs of force perpendicular to the end of a 1 foot wrench. Thats quite a bit of force. If you add a breaker bar, say to 2 feet total, its just 37.5 lbs of force on the end of the bar.

yes lets over torque the bolts so we can strech the bolt and make the joint weaker then if it was torqued corectly.... get a torque wrench, they are a great investment. my toolbox has 3 diffrent ranges all you really need is one mabe two.

Good to know, Staples, I get some kick$$$ deals at walmart on tools(Please dont start a anti-walmart rant guys and gals). Staples do you know(or can you look) which one u have, Like a Brand and Weight limit, i'll go pick one up. Its been driving me crazy trying to guess or borrow one.

Thanks
