as u can see there is only talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk shall i continue!!! look at the start of this thread and tell me how much progress has been made?

I was just surprised that 3,000 sets of DaveB rings were made. In the groupbuy threads, there were not that many sets ordered, so it threw me off.

Hi guys just a quick note from the packing and shipping department. ( Also known as Daves Better half) I gotta tell you after I read that amount $100,000 (shocked) I about choked on my morning can of coke. No way did he make that much. He sold them for $30.00 a set and the group buys were even cheaper than that when quanaties were bought all at once. ( then we gave a few sets away and donated quite a few sets to car meets ) He had to buy all the material to make them with, then all the packing supplies, dvd's for the instructional video and then buy all his own tooling for the machines. Then the fact that he could only run them on weekends and between the hours of midnight and 6:00 am. He did make some profit but you would be surprised at how little. Dave just wanted to crank out a mod that everyone could afford and we had a real blast doing it. It did get crazy but for the most part we loved it. All the profit he made went straight back into his car. ( although I did get a few great dinners out ... worked for me!!) The best part for me was pulling along side someones car and seeing the rings in them. It's a great adventure; a lot of work, but you meet some of the most fantastic people thru the rings. Have Fun! 3000 sets were made? holy crap! I thought it was just a few hundred. So he got over $100,000 by selling these little metal rings? Wow!

The fitment issues seem to be from the way they are made. I saw them recently, and can say that if they were easy to make, I am sure ebay would have knockoffs by now.

nah, not $100K, there were a lot of group buys and donations dave made. group buys were for about $25 a set on some of them. then there's always cost of materials and operational costs. if a bit goes, that's 30 sets of rings that need to be sold in order to replace the bit. then there's also shipping and packaging costs. in the end, it was nowhere near $100K. as for the group buys that i was directly responsible for, there were about 300 sets that sold. before that, there was a steady demand for them for over a year and dave cranked them out as fast as he could. it adds up quick.

is cullen still stamping them? that might be why he's having fitment probs. and it's not that anyone is claiming they're easy to make, they're just time consuming and tedious to get that first one perfect so they're simply a press-to-fit set of rings. as to ebay knockoffs, to find a machine shop to make something like this would require a huge buy-in, somewhere in the neighborhood of $10K at the shop's cost. by the time all is said and done, the rings would cost the consumer upwards of $50+ instead of dave's $30. it helps if you own your own machine shop and have a p5 to experiment with. outsourcing is the devil.

I am not sure how Cullen is making the rings. I am just really surprised to hear how many were made. I really did not think there were 3,000 of them sold, as they seem so rare.

Hopefully we will have the Street Rings soon.

s*** this thread is still going on..... no rings yet? good lord. Start a new thread when they are ready to purchase so I don't have to sift through all this babble! Lol some of the pics were funny.

If you PM me, I will let you know when they are ready. I talked ot Cullen, should be a "go" very soon. And I do not want to hear anyone b**** about how I said that before. The last thing I want to do is clutter the thread with bulls***. :D

So will these glue on or press on, and will they be flush with the dash? I know this might have been dicided upon a while back but I don't want to have to sort through all these posts for an answer. :D

They will be a glue on, will sit flush. It was decided upon in a vote thread, and a few weeks ago in between misc. ramblings by yours truly.

Thanks for your patience, everyone!

I was in Wildwood NJ this weekend and missed the post about a few more sets of DaveB's available, damn they went quick! Anyways, I'm ready to buy as soon as these become available RaiderMP5.

I will let you know as soon as Cullen tells me they are ready. You pm' d me already, so you will be advised!
