yea i'm loving the images i'm getting from all the peoplewith ground control..and i'm getting a set for free from a buddy of mine.. for my bday.. but i was just wondering if i ( having a protege 5) would have to change my stock shocks.. when i go to Ground Control. Also, are there any of you P5 lovers with GC and stock shocks?.. how is the ride comfort? is it really bouncy? i dont' want it to be noticed too much like eibachs.. thanks everyone i appreciated it

With any coils, you're shocks are probably gonna blow soon..I just put skunk2s on like 3 days ago, and I can tell they're gonna be gone soon lol..
I did 1.6" in the front and 1.5" in the back..and it feels pretty awesome..
My suspension outhandles the tires =\
time to upgrade to some 215s on 17"

i just heard...

I heard that coil overs are bad for the body as well. I went to a performance shop asking about the prices for GC for the hell of it, and they told me that they don't sell them because it'll hurt the shocks and body. They informed me that when ever we hurt a big bump with coilovers installed, it'll hurt the body. To me it doesn't seem true because i've seen and replaced shocks, and on the top of the entire assembly there's a cap that holds the spring on. So i was wondering, is that guy B.S.ing me? he told me to go with complete coilover systems. Of course its gonna be better but a lot more money, however, hurting the body with GCs? i dunno you tell me? i'm just confused.

Sounds like a load of BS to me. Coilovers are no worse than stiffer springs. The effect is the same, but you can adjust ride height. I have Ground Control coilovers on my Miata and it rides almost identically to the regular lowering springs I had on there before, because the spring rate is almost identical. That's what matters. Sure, if you slam the car to the ground with coilovers you can bottom out and shake the body pretty good, but that's not the coilovers fault.

Full coilover kits (shocks/springs as a package) are nice, but I don't see a big advantage as opposed to a nice Ground Control/adjustable shock setup. I have Ground Controls with KYB AGX shocks on my Miata and the setup is terrific.
