If you're buddy-buddy with these guys, would you be interested in talking to them about water to air intercooling?

well.... today was supposed to be my day to get a custom tune by doug from topspeed...

apparently, the dyno at subaru is a "dynapak" and the mazdaspeed 6 absolutely HATED it... the traction control would kick in and they only managed to get one pull...

the car with just cobb stage 1 basemap, griffin cooler, and KMD internals put down 240whp, 280wtq
 
Factory intercooler is always cool after a drive, but heats up if idling.

If you can also get a boost reading to see if it flows better than stock, thats where the power will be, from the extra boost/flow.

How do you want me to get the boost reading? Do you want me to log boost on the AP?
 
Unfortunately, unless you can get a totally stock TMIC, this is gonna be hard to compare. I would have liked to see similar driving habits with both on similar days, to really show how much this TMIC improves efficiency over stock.
 
i need an extra cold pipe/gasket though... thats the problem... i would have to put the cold pipe on each every time i switched them
 
so how is this going to work? do we send in our old TMIC and they send you a retro-TMIC? that and how much is this going to cost?

if someone gives me $50 bucks ill donate my stock intercooler to this project..i need to get rid of it anyways lol
 
So basically what they are doing is taking your stock end tanks, and welding them to a better core?

I love the idea, and if I can do it and especially if we can get some data supporting it, I will probably go this route.
 
ok, you guys wanted an update so here we go.

my tuner liked the tmic... he said it flowed really well and cool off much faster than the ETS tmic between runs

my car has a ghetto race pipe
this tmic
KMD v2 internals
cobb ap
and some denso itv24 plugs

did 252whp / 300tq

overall he was impressed....

just daily driving it typically has temps around 120-125
under boost it drops to low 100's.... im still on the stock airbox and that thing is pulling in temps of 100 usually
