GPS Clock is always 2 hours off

Now this might be a new one as I haven't seen it asked here before

And to start Yes I know how to change the clock manually.

Here's the situation.

After having the car for a year with no issues,
Whenever we start my CX-9 which has Navigation, I see the clock is correct. After pulling it out of the garage, the clock changes and is now 2 hours off. The GPS Clock and the Information Display are both off.
Clicking the +/- on the Time adjustment fixes it...for a while until we leave the car.

If we turn the car off for any amount of time (Roughly 5 mins?) and start the car up, the Time shifts again. If we stop the engine and start the car in a short amount of time (< 5 mins?) the time holds.

Any ideas on what might be broken? I sure hope I don't have to replace the entire Navi system.

Thanks

Did you check your "HOME" setting in your GPS?
Low battery? When was last replacement?

I checked HOME but never reset it. So I will reset it and hope for the best.

Battery changed about a week ago but we've had this problem for about 3 months.

If it works then THANK YOU ahead of time!

I deleted the HOME position and still off. Now that Daylight Savings is off it's now off 3 hours.

When you mention change battery you mean the main car battery right? That was replaced about a month ago.

Here's more weird news.
We deleted the home point, we deleted all the memory points.
Stop the car (do some shopping)
Get back in the car,
When we are driving home, I check and ALL The memory points are BACK, including the home points.

I also remember that the battery was unplugged for several days when the alternator fried and I was laughing how the radio needed reprogramming but the GPS didn't.

So is the GPS computer in the radio or somewhere else?

What year is your CX-9? If it's new enough, they use an SD card to store the map data and your waypoints. It would be below the panel by the left driver's knee that has things for the lift gate, BSM, etc. There is a little door there you can slide and pop the card out. If there is a card, you can try resetting/updating it with the TomTomHome software with your computer.

Otherwise, not sure where it saves it in the car. Clearly it's more permanent memory if the battery wipe doesn't do anything.

You might also try resetting the GPS on the screen, if you haven't already. I think there is a "factory reset" option in the menus.

Unfortunately mine is an 08, so no SD card, it's a disc
I've tried to reset it about 10 times and the memory keeps coming back like a bad horror movie.

I guess the radio is fried. (So's the bluetooth). I guess it's time for a new radio.

We started having this exact problem with our '08 CX-9 about a year ago. Took it in to the dealer (out of warranty) and they did a software update. Didn't fix the problem. Ours seems to reset itself every time the car is turned off. It's like it's not getting standby power and thinks it's starting for the very first time each time you start the car. Ours resets the region to Central every time. If we want to use the GPS we have to tell it Pacific Northwest.

Back then, I researched as much as I could but eventually gave up. I surmised that maybe the GPS unit (in the trunk) had its own CMOS battery, like a computer. Today, I finally got around to pulling the entire DVD unit out (trunk). I disassembled it, pulled out the mainboard and.... no CMOS battery :(

We are going to be selling this car in the near future, and I'm at my whits end!!!
