Got some new Rubber - Updated with Initial Review

Got my new tires via UPS today. Just in time for some spring temperatures here in Ohio too.

$499 delivered to my door less $80 rebate makes it a pretty dang good deal IMO. Rebate has been extended through end of April.

Review coming soon!

Did you get them for better grip or just a solid all season tire?

I got them because I wasn't about to drop $$ on the stockers. I wore down my stock OEM fronts at the track. May sell the rear pair on Craig's List or something as they have 50% + left.

I did want good All Seasons as while I do have dedicated snows, having all season will help extend the time I can go without swapping wheels and perhaps get me back to my summer set up a few weeks early too.

You should stop by our Columbus meets from time to time to get your photo fix.

Initial Review

Replaced the stock summer only rubber that was OEM and quite pricey with a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 ASC's. They are all season Hi-Po tires with a good quality tread wear rating.

Now that winter is pretty much over, I put them on and took off the dedicated snows. WOW! That's all I'll say.

Noticeably quieter and smoother than the stock rubber. Grip so far is good, but I've not really pushed them and won't until a good break in period is over. However, they do seem very, very nice.

More soon, but until then, if you're looking for a good deal, they are about $115ea for the 215 18's I'm running and Goodyear has extended the $80 rebate for a set of four. Makes for a great deal.

Happy camper here. (2thumbs)

Goodbye Jack Frost and Old Man Winter......summer is coming back to town!

Did you consider the GY Eagle GT's versus the GY F1 A/S-C's? I'll need a new set shortly and am trying to decide between the two.

I don't race (this is my wife's car). We don't have snow/ice here in SW Georgia but am interested in dry traction as well as performance on wet roads as we do get occasional downpours.

Thus far, from looking at internet pics, it appears the F1's more closely resemble the stock RE050's and might actually look best on the car which is another concern.

Question is did you compare the Eagle GT's to the F1's and if so, what was the factor that drove you to the F1's?

I bought a set of the Eagle F1 AS/C tires about 6 months ago and I am very happy with them,
I ended up paying under $100 a tire with the rebate.

I did consider the Eagle GT's but a good friend in who manages an NTB said the F1's are overall a better daily driver tire. The GT's are good but he said he's had a few balance and QC issues with them as they come in. Overall, the two are pretty much on par with one another in terms of how they handle and perform. The ASC's will be quieter as they wear he said. Especially if they wear unevenly for any reason. The tread pattern is more forgiving in terms of noise. I will say there's a HUGE difference in terms of noise compared to OEM Potenza's. These are way quieter.

I have dedicated snow tires but I will admit I do like the fact that the ASC's will handle light snow better than the GT's. That will buy me another 1-2 months of use as I won't worry if we get a slight dusting.

The extra dollars $$ off was also another factor. Lastly, IMO, the tread and sidewall of the F1's is looks better too.
