I got my 5-door tinted today. My installer was able to work around the spoiler and not remove it as I had read on other sites. I did remove the CHMSL and surrounding trim to make things easier for him inside. He did a topshelf job IMHO.

20% all the way around....

Looks really good. Makes your car look a lot better.

I have 35% Front and 20% Rear. I should have gone 20% all around but I didn't know how dark 20% would be. Turns out that its not dark at all.

Since it was a friend of a friend, I paid $170. Formula one wanted almost double that. He used Johnson's Tint. Still metallic and has a lifetime guarantee. I like 20%. It is dark but still not annoying at night.

That looks awesome. I am planning on getting mine in a month or so.. what kind of things do I need to know before going? Thanks!

It never hurts to shop around. 20% is darker than legal here in NC, so I had to find an independant guy to do it. Some shops will, if you pay cash. They just don't want a paper trail...

I think that independant guys do just as good of a job without the mark-up of a shop. So ask some folks at stereo shops who they know that tints. I guess I was lucky that I have a friend who knew someone.

I am very happy with this so far.

Same here, 20%. Diamond is another good make w/ full warranty(even if your window is broken)

Rear tint/auto-dim mirror???

Has anyone had the rear window tinted that also has the auto-dimming mirror? If so, what % of tint do you have and what's your opinion on the effects concerning the function of the mirror? I've noticed that a slight dust buildup on my non-tinted window will decrease the sensitivity of the mirror to automatically darken until the vehicle behind me is just a few car lengths away. Tinting, I'm thinking, will render the mirror useless for glare. Yes, I realize the tinting will compensate some, hence the % of tint part of the query.
Thanks,
Grey Ghost

Johnson's is a really good film, good choice. Looks like Silhouette. I like it when one shade is used all around. Looks great!

I have the 45% on my windshield of my Protege and used Executive for the rest, 35%. Very reflective, all metal film. I used to own a tint shop and we used Johnson and Llumar.

I am putting on Solar Guard 18% this time. The color matches really close to the black mica.

the auto dimmer isn't effected much at all, i have the mirror and 15% all around, it hasn't been bad at all, the mirror kind of reacts to how ever bright it is, so the tint kind of just aids the mirrors work

20% on rear half of car, 35% on front windows, and 50% for windshield. Makes all the difference to actually get the windshield tinted - air conditioner actually works!

looks nice......up here in MA we have to stay above 47-8% which is not dark at all. you will get pulled over if you get close to 35% and you will have to get your tint removed. sucks......couple of my friends have.....

well, in states that do not allow dark film, an alternative is to get an all metal film, as it's highly reflective (some even look mirror like) Even the 35% on my Protege looks much darker at certain angles just because of the reflectivity.

Of course, if ya like reflective film.

and ya, the 18% Solar Guard i put on the 3 matches VERY nice with the Black Mica.

If anyone cares, I also have 20% all around on my sedan, LOVE it. I also have a 6 inch 5% banner on the windshield

... oh, I give.

What's the CHMSL?

I'm planning on putting 35% all around come this spring. Lowest I can get in Wisconsin legally w/permission from eye doctor ;)

I went for 20s all the way around even though it is not legal in canada for the front windows to be that dark but i havent had a problem yet (about a year) and also if you have your sun roof shade open it lets more light into the car during the day and the tints look a lot lighter

Center High Mount Stop Lamp. ;)

If I have water spot on the window, do I have to clean those up first before tinting? I've some major spots that I have been trying to remove without success....
