where do you live? Because in Pitt I couldnt find an s within 4 states with my options. Yeah I def. wanted a bigger engine but if they were on the lots i would def. pay 1000 more for the s but I would have ordered it and had no real say in the price. So i lose the s and get a fair deal I believe. I may be kicking myself in a couple years but cmon I was driving a plymouth voyager since high school and i'm 24 and this feels like a cadillac to me.

lol. I hear you man. i also had a beat up car that i drove through college and when i got the 3 i was in heaven. I wasnt trying to diss your choice i just though it was a bit overpriced but considering the car is so hot nowadays, its probably difficult to get a very good deal. I think i was one of the ifrst to get the car in my area so i got a very good deal i think. On top of the numbers i stated above i also got a 3.9% for 60 months from Mazda America. Oh well dude, i guess the bit of less power on the i can be made up once you throw in a turbo.

you bought a end of the model year base model. You should have paid about 1500 to 2000 under invoice.

The 05s are still selling over sticker at many dealerships. There's no way they'll drop the price that much, even for employees, the deal's not that sweet. Mazda hasn't offered any programs, rebates etc... on the 3 because that car accounts for 50% of sales. The base model 3 doesn't have a/c either...

yeah, when i got my car a year ago it was the same thing, they wouldn't budge on the price cause they are walkin off the lot... hot cars, went lookin for a 3s sedan last night after work for the gf, she regrets buyin her toyota, and there were only 2 new 3's on each lot we went to, one sedan, and one hatch, both new sedans were the "i" model, though one place had 3 used ones from 04, two sedans and one hatch, though they were rental cars... i told her don't even bother... those are the only two mazda dealerships in prob 50 miles.... have to go out of state for anything else...

I got my 2005 S model for something in the 17K range back at the end of March. Sport package included with it, although I can't recall what it all comes with. I got a pretty good discount, though, because my stepdad drives the tractor trailers that deliver the cars.

Tsunami. If you are still looking we have one big Mazda dealer at the border of NH and VT that is also a Mazdaspeed dealer. Last time i checked they had 4 s trims and 6 i trims. Dont know about the pricing but i heard they are better than my local dealer. What toyota does your gf have?

Libra, thats a pretty sweet deal. Do you know what kind of dicount you got? $1000 off maybe?

Trust me guys......i have been in sales for 5 years and there is ALWAYS room to move! You just need to have the negotiating skills....or better yet bring someone you know thats in ur family or one of your friends and try to grind on price...salesman hate that and usually will go lower than normal

i may check that place out when/if i go on a drive out that way, whats the town its in?

It depends on how you work the people more than anything. Last time someone brought in a family member (who also used to sell cars) I ended up moving them up to a $1000 higher car and grossed an additional $500 because they guy talked big game without knowing what he was saying.

i know i was just letting them know that you can grind for more....i sell high ticket items as well and i get thoise kind of customers all the time...they think they know it all

LOL I know... Sometimes you just have to be up front with people that think they know everything about buying a car. I just explain to them that I sell more cars in a week than they've purchased in 10 years. Then I ask if it's okay with them if I do my job right and help them get a good deal in the process. That works for me. Anyways, if anyone here is thinking about buying a car or knows someone in the market, I'd be more than happy to help them out with getting a good deal and negotiating a bit more off that.

And sometimes it works the other way around. Some saleswhores think they can sell anything to anybody, and often get greedy in the process. I've been with my father on almost every one of his 2 dozen+ car buys and all the ones he's walked out of too. Hundreds (literally) of times we walked out on guys who wouldn't budge $200 extra to sell the car, even though they would still be getting a big profit from it. Not all saleswhores are prepared to haggle with somebody who knows his/her stuff. Since I knew I couldn't budge my saleswhore on lowing the price of a new Mazda3 SP I got him to give me more for the trade-in. I got 10 grand for my old POS Ford with torn belts, an exploded radiator, s*** for tires, and 85K miles. KBB appraised it for less than $8K. $18K - $10K = $8K paid in full for my new Mazda3. It may not sound too good, but it was my first solo buy.

That's good for you. 2 doz car buys doesn't really amount to much considering how much the business has changed in the past two years. Where in S Fla are you? I know in Miami salespeople (asshole) can be extra pushy, but if you know you're stuff and be up front, you'll usually get treated well if you're realistic. You sound proud of the hudreds of dealerships you've walked out of over $200. How much time do you think you wasted going in and haggling all to have nothing in the end... all for $200? If time=money and you throw in all the gas you used driving around, do you think you came out on top. Not trying to insult you, but there's usually a reason why you're not getting that $200 if the dealer thinks it's still getting an okay profit.

I'm on the Miramar/Pembroke Pines border, but I bought the car up in Pompano Beach. Five of those buys have been within the last two years, and we are accustomed to change--at least from place to place. We've bought cars in Cali, Texas, Utah, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Dealers change a lot based on location, too.
