Got a used act clutch and lightwieght flywheel kit from tripoint engineering

:
2006 Evo MR
I purchased these parts used from a friend. All I got with the purchase was the flywheel, and the clutch. When I look at the kit online, it shows a throw out bearing, pilot bearing and seal as well as what I got. My question is do I have to have these to install the parts that I have or do I need to contact Tripoint Engineering and buy them. I would be happy if these would install using some of my stock parts, only if this wouldn't hurt my car.

You should always replace the throw-out and pilot bearings when replacing a clutch. There is no seal to replace, don't know what that could be. The bearings are not very expensive and may be available at auto zone or advance auto parts. You'll also need a clutch alignment tool, goes for about $1.50, ford escort I think will work.

Another question! Are the throw-out and pilot bearings for the used ACT clutch I got the same as the ones in the stock setup? Or would it be better if i contact Tripoint Engineering where the kit came from? You can see the kit I'm speaking of at www.tripointengineering.com

Well, I just checked Autozone and Advance, and the bearings are not available aftermarket. You will have to get them from the dealer, should not be very much still.

Sorry for the stupid question...

What about the combination of an ACT clutch plus stock pressure plate?

then you would only be replacing the wear material, and not the pressure plate. The reason for an aftermarket clutch is because the stock one slips under higher horsepower. With stock pressure plate it will continue to slip. Depending on the ACT clutch tho, you may just have a clutch plate that lasts longer, but, your stock one should last the life of the car assuming you drive it right.

You can try contacting ACT themselves and get the MZ-018 pressure plate (which is the one that comes with the kit)

you will be putting a lot more stress to the clutch system so you should NOT reuse the bearings and you should NOT get some cheap aftermarket autozone s***

replace them with the OEM MSP ones which should be strong enough to handle the load
the pilot bearing (which is not MSP specific) is F801-11-303
the MSP throwout bearing is G561-16-510B

you should also replace the bolt and washers where the pressure plate bolts onto the flywheel per ACT's recommendation
replace them with either same type as OEM or OEM
the bolt itself is 9YA0-00-804
the lock washer is 9997-10-800
you need 6 of each

you can also replace the clutch fork with the stonger MSP one... it's cheap... info is in the FAQ
