Hey everyone,

Just was driving down Allen Rd near King and what used to be Gorno Used Cars is now Gorno Mazda. They have what appears to be quite a large selection of cars, as well as the used cars in the lot. Much larger than Sterling used to be. They claim to be "Downriver's largest Mazda dealer", but they're the only one. It's nice to have a Mazda dealer right down the road again.

I wonder how they'll be compared to sterling mazda...i hated those guys so much....

it's amazing how my one (and only) bad experience has left such a negative impression. and i'm usually the forgive and forget kinda guy. oh well...someone should check these guys out. i gotta get my p5 in to get the rust in my wheel wells looked at...i wonder how they would handle that rust warrantee??

I stopped by there last Thursday and they seem pretty cool. Here's what they said about how they came to be. Sterling Mazda (both of them) were part of the Jerome Duncan group of car dealerships. Jerome Duncan declared bankruptcy, and when they did that, the Suburban group bought them out. They already had their own Mazda dealers, so they sold the Mazda part outright to Gorno (who wanted a Mazda dealership a while back, but Sterling beat them to the punch for Downriver).

More on topic ... When I was there, they weren't sure if/when they would become a Mazdaspeed dealer, but the manager was meeting with Mazda the following day to discuss it. In fact, they were so new when I stopped in, they didn't even have their service department up and running (should be within a week). He also mentioned that their service manager is a very experienced Mazda tech, which sounds promising.

the guy I spoke with seemed like a decent guy. I've always been happy with my dealings with Gorno Ford, let's hope that Gorno Mazda follows in their footsteps.

Update

My dad ran into the service manager at dinner tonight and he said that they're not Mazdaspeed certified yet, but they are working on it.
