Goodbye Orange MSP

Hello Evolution. Traded in today for a new Silver EVO with CF Spoiler and Sunroof. This car is wicked fun. The MSP was as well. Get this, my insurance went down with the EVO and State Farm has it listed correctly as a $30,000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. My payment went up slightly and the MSP is gone. Had fun for a year.

Thanks to all on this board for everything.

payment went up slightly??? LOL umm... is an extra $200 a month what you call "slightly"? anyways man... congrats! that car is the s***!!! and silver is by far the best color!!

cool man. congrats! My friend has a silver also. What is your monthly now? His is like $550 with no trade in but with $6,000 down. But yeah have fun with it.

What's slightly?

I tried to do the same thing but I didn't want that much of a payment increase. I test drove the EVO and I didn't like the ride at all. Very stiff. Too stiff. But HUGE balls! :D :D

For $33,000 I would much rather drop that amount of $$$ towards a new Corvette or buy a slightly used Corvette with an LT-1 and throw an intercooled ATI Supercharger on it and run 11's all day long.

There is alot more d*ck factor involved and alot more women will drool over a Corvette than they will some "kiddy" or "tuner" car.

But then again, you didn't buy it to impress women correct? We buy our cars/toys because we enjoy driving something unique and fun, much in the same I bought my Ducati 998...yeah it's not the fastest 1 liter bike out there but it still does 10's all day long in the 1/4 and I will run circles around any comprable rider on 1 liter bike on track days...

The EVO Lancer and WRX-Ti are indeed very cool Tuner cars...they sure have come a long way since the early 90's with the 3000GT and Twin Turbo Stealth, Eclipse, and Laser for sure...

Congratulations on your new car...

The corvette is fine if you get a C5, otherwise they are junk. The C4 was a waste of a V8.

Even the C5 has a crappy plasticy interior. Ever notice the door panels on the vette. They flex, don't fit right, the door opener doesn't sit flush. Just not impressed by them.

im pretty sure both the sti and evo can run low 13s high 12s all day...dependin on factors of course...driver, track, temp etc etc

Yeah, sloop...
What is a "slightly" higher monthly payment? What did you get for your MSP? How many miles were on it? What is the difference in your insurance payment?

congrats.......I'm still hoping to get an EVO once I'm done with my SRT.......I still haunt the EVO forums (www.evolutionm.net) so I know what's up when I'm finally an owner. When I bought the SRT I also tested out the EVO and the STI and I was partial to the EVO by a VERY slim margin.....but the wife liked the STI best.....I'd honestly be happy with either.

Congrats though.....I'm jealous :)

"So Goodby yellow brick road"......oh sorry.

loj68 - So what did you dislike about the STI? I found the EVO's ride very harsh.

The EVO's ride was harsh cause it has an extreamy stiff chassis that makes for some great handling, My problem wasnt that about the Evo

Knotchy Shifter, The Interior seat colors werent working at all (Checkered Blue) The Brakes had a mushy feeling to them. The Turbo Lag was forever, When taking off from a stop you have to get the revs up pretty high or your taking off in a jerking motion. The best thing about the Evo is its steering response its really amazing

(Stock) Evo VIII 1/4mile....13.08@103mph

(Stock) WRX STi 1/4mile....13.2@104mph

I thought the STi was faster in a straight line, but the EVO handled better:confused:

The LAG is that bad??
I dont see how the brake would be mushy ... explain to me ... they had BREMO's.
I personally have not yet test drove the car so I'm just curious

well, for me honestly my preference for the EVO is by such an incredibly small margin that it's not funny. It's nearly a tossup for me between the EVO and the STI. For me personally it came down to the fact that the EVO fit me much better......I'm 6'8" and 250lbs and the EVO has more headroom and the seats fit me really nicely. Plus I like the looks of the EVO better. Plus I've been lusting for an EVO for a REALLY long time ever since Jackie Chan started tossing them around in his movies in the early 90's.....I've always wanted one. I personally didn't find the ride that harsh.......at least not compared to my MSP. I had really no complaints about the STI at all except those horrible gold rims and the hot-pink STI logo.....I'd still kill to have either really.
