Goodbye MS3 :(

broken gear teeth = $$$$ and will likely get worse over time thats why i said poor MS3 in my earlier post :(

Although rev matching when downshifting and downshifting as little as possible will help with the gear popping out. I've heard that happened to several people with these cars, but who knows - maybe they have broken teeth too.

Clutch bad already and broken teeth, 18 year old driving an MS3. I'm not trying to be an ass, but it sounds like the dealer may have taken this into consideration when making the decision to cover it.

Well it was fixed under warranty so it got a brand new 2nd gear sooooooo maybe its just me but im not seeing the problem

Also bought a new clutch for it and getting all weather tires be for I sell. So how is this a bad deal for whoever buys this car?

i would get an automatic firebird/camaro/mustang circa 2000~ish if i were u. mod the heck out of it then floor it all the time.

then again, ur 18. being in the passenger's seat of your dad's suv is not a bad idea at all.

My point had no bearing on the sale of the car or that everything was repaired. I was just stating that the car was not driven properly. I would stay away from a performance car with manual trans until you get more experience.

come on now, i really doubt you're letting it go because it is "too expensive".

18 year old going to college i think so. Also my sister needs a new car she is graduating college so my parents are selling my car and upgrading me after i complete college. If I could I would keep my car. And I'm a fine driver now it was just a bad idea to learn on a 20k car since I had never once drove anything with a clutch.

give your MS3 to your sister and you get a cheaper alternative. graduating college doesnt mean she needs a NEW car.

If you have to trade it in, i hope depreciation doesnt bite you in the ass.

Indeed. I half way looked at a 1999 BMW M3 S50 because I love those E36 BMW's, a MAZDA dealer had one for 10k$. I did some research on the car and what my MS3 would trade in for was around $16,000 for my 2008.5 sport purchased in december for around $25k TTL.

Kind of a silly thing to be flipping on cars like that, especially when the Mazdaspeed was a value purchase anyways. Safest move for the family is just to own the vehicle and then make exchange type decisions once there are bargaining chips on the table. That is of course unless you trade down to a $5,000 Saturn LS or something, that could work out in the family's favor financially.

You're damned if you do you're damned if you don't when you go into debt to own something, just be happy with it and embrace the lovely design that is this stinking American dream k?

Ya I'm going to try to find a 2001 s4 for not too much but if I don't find one then I'll go with the WRX. Lol two good choices can't complain at all.

But mazda declined my claim for chipped 2nd gear tooth and I had to b**** and tell them how retarded they are til they finally changed their mind. But, what I had to deal with and the people will make me never want another mazda. I met a mazda tech and holy s*** was he retarded.

If you thought Mazda dealers were bad, wait till you go to a subaru dealership.

95% of used WRX's will be beat on. Unless you know the owner of the WRX, I wouldn't buy a used WRX for free.

You want something cheaper and you're looking at STi/WRX/Evo/S4's? YoAr doing it wrong.

Cheaper would be anything honda.

I was thinking the same thing. My brother had a Ford Focus for his first manual car and had to replace the clutch after 38k miles. He completely killed it with poor driving and sitting on the clutch when stopped.

I had 140k miles on my Acura Integra GS-R and it still had the original clutch going strong, but this was my 2nd GS-R. I did my screw-ups on a leased one =)

You would be insane to purchase an Audi without it being a CPO car. Trust me, if you can't afford a Mazda you will never afford to keep the S4 on the road. I am speaking from experience with my TT. I would have had to drain my 401K to pay for maintenance costs if it were not an Audi CPO car. You are only 18? Save your $, go to college, get a job and buy a new S4 when the time is right.
