goodbye mp3 RIP.

If your motor is in the shape you said it is in,the pistons being in pieces and all, then your turbo is probably TRASHED!
Hence you no longer have a turbo kit for sale.
If any tiny little piece of piston went through the turbo then it prob tore up the turbine wheel.
I know this from first hand experience on my MSP.I only had a piece of metal smaller than a BB go through the turbo and trash it along with the ENTIRE motor.
Sorry to rain on your parade about the turbo kit and I hope all of this works out for you.
Matt:)

i blew two pistons to shreds, had four holes in my block and exhaust shooting out pieces of metal. my turbo was in fine shape, surprisingly. still using it without a hitch.

91 octane fuel with the MP3's advanced timing seems like something that would do some damage over time. I never run anything less than 93 or 94 octane personally.

Dude, don't buy that engine, buy the one I posted for $699 the other day.

i ran about 9 to 10 psi on 93 octane for about three or four months before blowing it all apart at the track. i would say most of the damage I did was done prior to my run that day.

Man, the story changes every time you post it. First you said you boosted to 8, the day you went to the track, and now this!

I have always seen him post the same story he has here.

WTF Captain Ken, i thought that you only boosted to 8 on the track. i didnt know you ran 9-10 psi daily for months.

NOW I SEE THE TRUE GUISE OF YOUR CHARACTER.

thank you 1st - I never boosted to just 8. I was boosting 6 psi, I bought the profecB boost controller, had the high knob set to about 9 (it would sometimes spike higher), the low knob set to 6 (which at times would also spike, but not above 7). I used the high setting for a few months and didn't think anything was wrong. At the track, I used the high setting off and on and dialed up the boost past 10. The engine blew that day at the track - originally I thought it was just from running that day. I probably did more damage to the engine up to that point by running 9.

nothing has "changed" in my "story" except my own hindsight. Looking back on it, there were a ton of things I either ignored or didn't pay attention to up to the time it went kablooie, which I reflect on now. When I got the car back and checked the boost controller, I wanted to kill myself when I saw how much I actually turned it up - a good two or three notches.

edit: as Dexter was kind enough to point out to me in an IM, the very very first time I ever posted about blowing my engine up stated as follows;

"I was running 9 psi with a boost controller and shouldn't have been."

don't know where you got the number 8 from, or whats so confusing about any of it. I've been over this a zillion times. I would lie about blowing my engine up why, now?

wow i have no idea where i got 8 from. i searched back into your old threads and yes, it was 9psi.

A knocking noise at idle is not pinging unless you've got something terribly, terribly wrong with your car. I doubt it would drive if it was pinging at idle. That's why I asked earlier about when the noise occured. Kyle's explanation was that it was idle, thus it was not pinging. Could have been rod knock of course.

so keith what do you think it could be i told mazda i was talking to one of the people that made the kit and that you werent totally sold on the idea tha it was the turbos fault any info would be helpful.
thanks kyle nelson

I can't make any educated guesses from here. Your car had some sort of knock at idle. What was it? I have no idea. There are a number of things it might have been, some worse than others. It might have been a sign that your engine was damaged from an overrev or detontation or something else. You've said your exhaust was so loud that you never would have heard any detonation under boost.

The tech who installed your kit no longer works at the shop, so I couldn't find out exactly how it had been tuned and with what tools.

I would be surprised to hear if Mazda was willing to replace the engine under warranty. Putting a turbo kit on a car and then destroying internals is pretty much guaranteed to void a warranty.

Keith

i'll correct keith- it is guaranteed to void the warranty. :p

whether or not they go AGAINST what their own warranty says is up to Mazda USA. It is possible that a Mazda Rep that travels came to see your car, as one came to back up the dealer in not honoring my warranty.

the techs at mazda are telling me that the engine was overfueling and they have seen this other fords lately and that they are pretty sure that mazda will cover it we will see though.

that would be absolutely ASTONISHING if they covered it. i hope they do, but the a holes at corporate mazda dont like shiny stuff under the hood.

yeah i know but when i ****** up my tranny forks they covered it and i had the turbo and an act clutch. i am just going off of what the head mechanic tony told me at galpin ford he said it looks to be the injectors fault not the turbo.
