2007 Mazda3 s Sport Hatchback
Just got home with a new 08 Cosmic Blue Speed 3. My god! What a power difference over the 3 Hatchback with an automatic I traded in. Even in 6th gear on the freeway, you just barely press on the gas and it goes. Will definitely have to get use to the new power and driving a stick again. Haven't driven a manual for a daily driver in about 13 years. At 48, I won't do hardly any modding. The exhaust note is just fine for me. Got a pretty good deal. Got the car for invoice and they gave me what I owed for my 07 Hatchback which was exactly what KBB said it was worth on a trade in. Now for few personnal tweeks but nothing crazy.

Good luck on NOT modding. I would suggest staying away from this forum. There is a bug going around that will lead to spending and increased HP. You may be happy with the zoom zoom now but you will want more very soon.

You will love it more as you drive it more...You must get a new intake for the car tho,Then you can be done modding it..Or atleast get a K&N drop in filter.

at least get a K&N drop in filter.
I was planning on a K&N and changing the exhaust tip for another one. Does a K&N help the engine breath easier? I would think that the turbo could spool a touch quicker with the K&N letting in more air. I'm planning on putting the same exhaust tip on the new car as I put on the old car. It's a dual walled, angle cut stainless tip I got off of Ebay for $30. It comes in either 3.5" or 4", I put a 3.5" on my 3, I'll put the 4" on my Speed 3. Here's a pic of the tip on my old 3.

I liked the stock exhaust sound but HATED the drone when I let off the gas and at some cruising speeds. So, I went to Planetmagnaflow.com and picked up the Magnaflow cat back for $480 shipped and have been 110% happy ever since! The tip is right up your ally!!

where can you purchase the magnaflow for the ms3? this is just the catback right? no issues with install/cel/etc.?

It is the cheapest at Planetmagnaflow.com It is around $480 shipped. It is part number 16821. No problems with the install at all. Took me from start to finish .......an hour. No CEL with just a cat back alone. No issues what so ever. I love it.

Sweet thanks...once i get home ill check out ur vid cuz i dont have speakers here at work but i love the way the stock sounds but sometimes i wish it wre louder...not RICE loud but like a deep growling beast loud lol

sweet!!! i found a coupon that gave me 50 bucks off might be orderin a n exhaust sooner than expected lol....sorry for the three posts

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I am the same age, made the same trade, and said the same thing. I now have an upgraded intake, boost gauge, motor mount inserts, shifter bushings, rear sway bar, Forge BPV, a boost controller waiting to go in, new rims on the way, springs on the way, RT615 tires waiting to go on the new rims, and I am trying to decide whether to go with a MAP clamp and hack up my wiring, or just say the heck with it and use a boost cut defender, which should work fine as I am only going up a couple of psi on the boost.

Congratulations and good luck!

LOL! Well, I know I won't be doing all that but I'm going to do a little. Getting ready to order the rear bumper step guards from Tonkin Mazda. Don't want the top of the bumper to get scratched with the son loading and unloading his sports stuff. Also going to replace the stock exhaust tip, ordering it soon too. Thinking about a K&N filter for the stock air box unless someone makes a dry flow filter for the stock airbox. Don't want a full blown CAI, thinking that the K&N will help the engine breath easier though. Other than that, won't do much.

I used to have a drop in k&n... not worth the $. Absolutely no gain(stock airbox just suck) and no change in sound. Do it right the first time get a CAI or a short ram. I'm now happy with my cp-e.

there are a lot of 'cheap' and easy mods you can do!

remove your door moldings
shifter bushings
motor mount insert.

:D

great color btw!

edit - i threw the bumper guards on as well! get the plastic cargo tray while you're at it! it fits perfect and will keep your cargo area like new!:D
