2010 Mazdaspeed 3
Hello Everyone !

I was curious what would be a good first mod for my speed 3. I am quite new to this so not exactly sure what to go with.

On a side note, I love this car ! I live in the cold of Canada, and with winter tires it still does quite nicely

Either a SRI or springs. That would be my first move with any vehicle. IMHO, you always do springs before rims/wheels. A car always looks better lowered on stockies than monster trucking on Enkies. And since you are in Canada, you would probably rather go with an adjustable coilover so that you can raise it up for the winter snows. So CAI or SRI. (short ram intake)

really depends on what you want out of the car. looks, performance, handling, interior/sound? if i personally had to pick one to start i'd probably agree with skatethesea and get an intake and turbo inlet pipe.

^^I agree^^ Short shift kit and bushings. Easiest bang for the buck mod.

Welcome!!

Thanks guys, quick question though. Which SRI/TIP/Springs/Bushings etc etc.

Ive been in Phoenix for the holidays and looking forward to going back and driving my baby ! This versa rental just isnt the same

I agree on the corksport but I would have to rep for TWM for your shifting needs. I absolutely love my short shifter. I am not saying JBR is a lesser product in anyway, I just am stoked on my shifter

i've had both the shifter plate and short shifter, they each create a different effect. shifter plate reduces the throw but keeps the shifter height the same, while the short shifter reduces the throw as well as the shifter height. one isn't necessarily better than the other, but the short shifter feels more natural to me.

I had a TWM short throw shifter on my '03 Protege and loved it. However, I know that some people have had problems with the TWM short shift plate for the MS3/Mz3, and I don't know if those issues have been resolved or not. That, along with JBR's lower price and the fact that I like the stock knob height, is why I choose the JBR for my 3.

With that said, it sounds like people love TWM's full-replacement shifter, and it is a reputable brand.

I brought a CAI from K&N, the typhoon series, bit of a slap on the wallet but u get a reported 24.bhp.

install and hold on, its frecking mental.

doesnt give you the CEI like others and now when i boot my car the Skid light comes on cos I must be reaching my skid detection patch limit :D
