One's thirtieth birthday usually marks a period of contemplative introspection that seeks to uncover whether one's existence here on Earth has meant anything. Fortunately Volkswagen took a less reflective route when deciding how to celebrate its Golf GTI's 30th birthday and instead stuffed 30 extra horsepower in the GTI's 2.0L TFSI engine that produces 200 bhp in standard trim. Additional birthday bits include a set of matte black 18-inch alloys and blacked out taillights, body-colored front and rear aprons, and all the requisite "30th Edition" badges affixed about the car's exterior and interior.

AWESOME! 230 hp GTI should be a blast. That has to be my favorite FWD sport compact out right now.

...and do we get this version in the US?

they did the 20th ann. edition in 2003, so if we do get one it obviously won't be till 2013. who knows, as slow as vw puts out new generations, it might still be the Mk5 lol.

i don't know...i mean, the rabbit is going to share the same platform as the mkV and it doesn't even come out until like late summer this year...no way mkIV is going to be out in 07...they haven't shown them, and they are not available in europe

The MK5 Golfs are out in Europe. My cousin in Ireland has 06 Golf GT which is the MK5. VW is bringing out the MkVI will be out in late 07 because the MK5 is not selling well.

^^^ dude, you replied before my 6:13 post and somehow you got pushed down to 6:14....something freaky is going on

so we wait a year for price drop then?

Usually German manufacturers wait 1 to 2 years to sale new models in the US. SO we probably will not see the MKVI until 09 or 10.

thanks man...i think that i just wasn't understanding that you were talking about the european release, and i was talking about north american... thanks for the link.

btw, if you can really cut through all the crap that's on vortex, there is a lot of knowledge there.
