Given up, let mazda know!

I agree though, it is BAAAAD customer service. Had I been on the same boat as all you Mazdaspeed wannabes, then I would probably be just as upset about this entire thing.
We're not "wannabes", we're "wannabuys".:)

Look at this delay as time to save up for a down payment. You're not getting charged interest right now, so you'll be better off when you smack down an extra grand. Thats what I would've done :). I took the bus to work for a month while I waited for my MP3, and it came in a week earlier than they expected. But I also saved an additional grand for the down payment.

Ever since I joined this forum I have been excited about the MSP. There are few factory turbo cars on the market and this one costs about 4k less than the WRX. Well now after a long time of reading whats been going on...I have to agree with the people who are backing out.

Not only are they not buying a car from a company that has poor customer service (sure, mazda doesnt care if you back out since there is someone else who will buy it, but when you want service do you think they will care?) , but they are also not buying a car from a company that has poor quality control. If they "forgot" to add a part to the car or if a part broke even before the first one was sold then it really makes you think what else can happen. If was a cheap part on the interior I wouldnt really care, but if its a cheap part in the engine, then I would care.

just my 0.02

yeah...the 150 horses to the ground is great and all....but they had to use a turbo to get it....don't get me wrong....i love the MSP and am patiently waiting for mine....but the FS-ZE engine puts out 170 at the crank....same as MSP....without turbocharging.....granted.....it does have a high compression ratio so it wouldn't take to a turbo very well...but.....and about the 9psi....from what i hear....the car is set at 6.9 and is capable of handling 9 without doing anything to the engine internals....past that would destroy the engine....just my $.02

The FS-ZE is acutally only rated at about 150 something SAE net. The 170 power rating is not the same measure as here. Look at the specs on the Sprot 20 and you will see that the horsepower is in a different measurement than SAE net.

I am simply posting what I have been told as far as boost on the MSP. If the tech manual says 9, I'm betting its set at 9...

--- edit ---

Think about this...It was supposed to be set at 6.9 psi. I thought that until I got the Edwin smack on the other board. He is saying that it is running 9 spi.

It could very well be at 200 hp at the crank. Remember the tranny on the Protege/MP3 loses about 20%. The MSP is running the same tranny plus LSD, so figure maybe a little more loss.

I think Mazda is pulling a VW move here. SCC put down 150 something to the ground, right?? I seriously doubt that Mazda figured out how to get down to ~9% loss in that tranny by adding LSD...

If SCC got 155, that would put the tranny at ~23% loss with a 200 at the crank. That sounds reasonable to me. I am trying to get clarification on the matter.

Volumetric efficiency is the culprit as to why the turbo needs to be running so high...

do you just need more reason to justify your purchase or what?
I think you hit the nail on the head with that one. As fot he boost level of the MSP, I still believe that it's 5.9psi. But, if it is 9psi, people will see huge power gains if they add a 3" exhaust and a bigger intercooler. But I still SERIOUSLY doubt that it's at 9psi.

6.9, 5.9 or 9 psi...There is to many numbers flying around on the boost.

5.9 would not produce the numbers SCC got. 6.9 comes close, and 9 would show more than they got. So what is the real number??

I have no idea what the real number is, but I'll bet my MP3 that it's not 9psi.

DISCLAIMER:If I am proven wrong I will most definitely welch on that bet.:D

Here is what I posted in the other thread about this very issue:

Why does VW underrate their motors?? Insurance purposes. They don't want it to be rated higher than the up coming sports car, the RX-8. Do I need to name more reasons?

Here is the thread on the other board: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sh...15&pagenumber=3

Look on page three, towards the bottom. This whole thread is in regards to the dealership presentation of the MSP. As you can see (starting form the beginning), they originally thought 6.9 psi as well, but it was confirmed that the car will be running 9 psi from the get go.

The motor can handle 10 psi reliably, 12 will blow the block. This has been proven by Keith in talks with Mazda, as well by the Mazda reps.

I realize that it might sound absurd for them to run 9psi. But the numbers SCC to got would show that 6.9 is not what is going on. Once again I point to the lack of volumetric efficiency of FACTORY turbo kits. It's not there for a reason, cost effective reasons. Hence, why the car needs to run 9 to get the numbers that SCC got.

I'm trying to see if I can get scans of the info regarding the 9psi. Until then, I'm not going to argue any more about. Believe what you want. I trust the sources Edwin has. THEY WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN ITS IMPLEMANTATION AND DESIGN, AND WORK FOR MAZDA NA...

Lets get back to the original thread subject: i gave up too... loosed my curent car buyer (2000 Prot ES full equip) and i dont care anymore, ill keep it another year or 2 and get a new 2004 proty with the 2.3L or something better like the MSP M6 with around 280 Ponies! Mazda jerked too long on this one, its winter here and there is no fun to put that orange beauty in the snow so i forget that....

Good luck with your cars guys!

Me toooooo.....

Well, guys I never thought I would have to post on this thread, but the end is here for me.... Looks like Mazda didn't want to approve me for this loan, so I have no choice in this matter....
They did however approve me for a fully loaded Pro ES, sorry, but no way......
Well, I just like to say that the time I spent on this site has difinitely helped me out a lot in understanding the Pro & all cars alike....So thanks to this board.....

Good news out of this is I think I will get a good deal on a 02 Spec V, with everything, ABS, system w/ sub, sunroof.....
If not I guess I can always try for the 03.5 MSP.......Who nows......
:'(

Funny thing is I just added an avatar & changed my sig........:bs:

Man, that sucks. I'm a little concerned myself, but I'm not going to put in a credit app until the cars are actually at my dealer. I have decent credit, but I never had a car loan before. Not to pry, but did they give you a reason why? It seems strange that they couldn't get you a loan with some other bank. I know mny dealer goes through a bunch of banks, and some have lower interest than Mazda.

I know man.....I hate this tooo, but its seem fishy to me cause,
like I said they wanted to get me in loaded Pro ES & that should be like $17,xxx, right.....So that's only $3,500 more for the MSP.
I have a score of 677 on my credit & they say the MSP is to much. I was going to tread my girls Echo for it & they only wanted to give me $7,500 for it ( Nissan is giving me $8,500, but that's cause I will have a 02 ), my girl could have been the problem cause her credit is not all that.......But still 3,500 more & they coulden't do that :bs: ......Well, I still will always respect the MSP & I would have waited for the other ones to come out, but I need a car now......Well good luck guys & slug we can still meet up if you want & work on are cars together or something if you don't mind chilling with a Spec V owner ;).........Let me know when you get it man...... I do plan on getting the Travis turbo for it when it comes out, something like 247WHP  , not bad if you ask me...Later guys.....

man..from a spec V owner's perspective, they could PROBALLY never fix that droopy ass.

The only thing that has come close is the Buddy Club 2 Rear Bumper + the APC retro lights (if they're your flavor)

but yea...a Buddy Club 2 Body kit would be nice :)

that's running on only 6-7 Psi too..won't blow the engine...but I'm thinking put the SR20DE block on there and we should be good for more PSI :)

But don't forget...we can hit 247 WHP with all the bolton's that are comming out. The Race Spec V, which is TOTALLY naturally asperated dynoed at like 251 hp and something like 230 ft-lb torque. Not sure if that's at the crank or not...but that's with Cams, headers, balance shaft, knock sensor, intake, exhaust, better rubber, rims, springs pullies, flywheel, I'm guessing JWT ECU (?), don't count on the ecu...I don't think it's been developed....but the cams alone were running like 170-180 whp when put on the spec

They probally did a lil more, but they didn't do any FI because the rules of that race circuit was no FI nor Nos, and it was all done on the stock block.
