GI: Replacement exhaust manifold

Update on the flange situation:

I found a local guy who can fill the flange order same day, but unfortunately he doesn't have the metal in stock. Its going to take a couple days to get the metal... I'm going to get the manifolds knocked out as soon as I possibly can. I should have had the flanges here weeks ago. I'm sorry guys!

This is somewhat disappointing and upsetting to post, but P.E.P. is sucking a ton of time away from my wife and kids and it just doesn't make any sense to keep pushing forward. I have done this as a fun sideline without really making any money. I just can't afford to keep operating that way, and don't feel like doubling my prices is a useful way to fix the problem. I will keep offering the downpipes and midpipes because they are easy and don't really take much time, but I'm shutting down both manifolds as website items. I may still build custom things like manifolds from time to time, but they will just be offered in the FS section, not really sold on a regular basis. I hate to do this, but I've been taking inventory of all the noise in my life and this is the source of most of it.

To give you an idea of where I'm at, I've had the spicy in the driveway since February, and have had all the components sitting in the garage for months. I can't seem to find a minute to touch the car and at this point don't know when I will. I want my hobby back and shutting down the time consuming projects is the only way to do that. I will fill all paid orders ASAP. Thanks so much guys!

is this the turbo manifold or the intake manifold... if its the turbo manifold ill be needing one pope, but itll be awhile as i have a wedding to pay for..

Well, the deal is that I'm killing the website and I'll just be operating on a "when I can" system. I've been a slave to the website and orders and that needs to stop. I'll still be selling manifolds here and there it will just be when I have time and I won't be taking orders. When I build something I'll just throw it up in the for sale section. That goes for the intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds. The products aren't dead they just aren't going to be done "on demand."

yeah really man, I'm just happy I got on the wagon when I could, I thought I was going to be screwed when I found out that all the other mani's were discontinued before, and luckily you were just starting to get the prototype built. but can't wait to get it hopefully sometime this week or after the end of this week. my cracked one really sucks right now, and yours is just beautiful! and all the hard work you put into everything shows.

just a FYI I might be putting my exhaust manifold up for sale here pretty soon to fund some much needed repair on my bucket. It has a EWG setup for 38mm v-band, 02 sensor, and no EGR (I ordered egr but appearntly it was over look by both Thomas and I. lol) Mods, if you want me to create a seperate thread and signage let me know. I can do so when i get home from work.

Well this just keeps getting worse...

I picked up the new flanges today and they are nothing more than an expensive pile of scrap metal. I can't use any of them. So now I have to try to get my money back and find someone to cut these things. THIS is why I'm sick of messing with it. I enjoy working in the garage. I enjoy working with a great group of car enthusiasts. I'm tired of all the crap that has to go on to make it happen. I've dealt with all the issues on the downpipes and they are a well-oiled machine - I love them. These manifolds have been one problem after another. I'll keep you posted.

Damn dude, Sorry to hear your having all these issues. Hopefully you can get these things ironed out like the downpipes and be able to build them in your sleep here soon.

At this point I would love to just refund the rest of the orders and enjoy the remainder of my summer break, but I have $2000 in metal and raw materials downstairs to build these manifolds and no head flanges. So I'm stuck where I can't fill orders and I can't refund money. There are several reputable companies that will do beautiful work, but they want $85-$125 per flange and I just can't afford to pay that when I've only gotten ~500 for the whole thing. I was getting flanges for around $50 from the original supplier until that fell apart. This is why stuff costs so much. I figured it up and if I paid myself by the hour, I make about $6/hr. I can make 5 times that tutoring, I can make 6 times that helping my buddy with HVAC side jobs, I can make 4 times that helping another friend with auto maintenance.... PEP just doesn't make sense or cents and its because for every hour I spend actually welding, I spend 2-3 hours answering emails, making calls, chasing materials, filing taxes, cleaning up subpar parts from suppliers, etc.

[/End Rant]

Yeah this is why I haven't quit my job to start tuning cars yet. It's for retirement, when I have enough money I don't actually need an income. Where if the business breaks even, that's better than expected. If you actually do some research on the big name tuners that are "successful" you'll see their money didn't actually come from working on cars, it's usually some bulls*** like title insurance or real estate.
