Damn dude, Sorry to hear your having all these issues. Hopefully you can get these things ironed out like the downpipes and be able to build them in your sleep here soon.Well this just keeps getting worse...
I picked up the new flanges today and they are nothing more than an expensive pile of scrap metal. I can't use any of them. So now I have to try to get my money back and find someone to cut these things. THIS is why I'm sick of messing with it. I enjoy working in the garage. I enjoy working with a great group of car enthusiasts. I'm tired of all the crap that has to go on to make it happen. I've dealt with all the issues on the downpipes and they are a well-oiled machine - I love them. These manifolds have been one problem after another. I'll keep you posted.
At this point I would love to just refund the rest of the orders and enjoy the remainder of my summer break, but I have $2000 in metal and raw materials downstairs to build these manifolds and no head flanges. So I'm stuck where I can't fill orders and I can't refund money. There are several reputable companies that will do beautiful work, but they want $85-$125 per flange and I just can't afford to pay that when I've only gotten ~500 for the whole thing. I was getting flanges for around $50 from the original supplier until that fell apart. This is why stuff costs so much. I figured it up and if I paid myself by the hour, I make about $6/hr. I can make 5 times that tutoring, I can make 6 times that helping my buddy with HVAC side jobs, I can make 4 times that helping another friend with auto maintenance.... PEP just doesn't make sense or cents and its because for every hour I spend actually welding, I spend 2-3 hours answering emails, making calls, chasing materials, filing taxes, cleaning up subpar parts from suppliers, etc.
