GI: OBX header

1) Steve_protege (00 Protege) (Interested)
2) Sic03Mazda (03 Protege 2.0L) ($$$ in hand and ready to send)
3) Tampasport20 (00 Protege 1.6L)
4) HI-RES (00 Protege 1.6L)
5) quagmire (00 Protege 1.6L)

I am in Canada, and would like to know if I could get shipping here. Also is this going to directly bolt on or do I have to use a 'crowbar' to get the mountings to fit?

i have never needed a crowbar to fit these headers on a car, honestly. just fit the EGR stuff before mating it to the head. i will ship to Canada for $19 extra

Can you confirm if you will ship these overseas? Australia postcode 4068.
Need total cost inc USPS.
CANNOT be fedex/air freight because it is way too costly (incurs a myraid of taxes & customs obligations).

Cheers

i will ship to Australia but it will cost $35 in shipping even with USPS

You might have some issues w/the EGR valve. Do a search for OBX header and EGR valve. You should see some advice. I would recommend you gently screw in the EGR valve first, then push the header onto the engine block and screw in the bolts on the engine block. Then tighten the EGR valve, then tighten the engine block bolts.

This is after you've done the lower spring bolts btw.

A crowbar might be handy, but just be careful. tyusha can tell you all about that (or search for his thread).

I'd recommend you do the non-fouler fix. It's pretty simple. Purchase two spark plug non-foulers, drill out one of them with a 1/2 inch drillbit, and screw them all together. This is for the 2nd o2 sensor located at the bottom of the header. It'll go o2 sensor -> nonfouler (drilled out) -> nonfouler (non-drilled) -> header.

Great fix, costs about $5 to do. Search for thread titled "testing new NO CEL method on catless cars.

Will Do!! Thanks for the info !!!

Alright alright!!! 4 more people. Lets get this done. As soon as we have the required amount, this GB can go on and monies can be sent. I am so ready to get this header!! Spread the word all....

This is probably a question that has been asked many times before but, when going to an after-market header, does the CEL always come on? Or are the O2 censor locations still relatively close to stock so they read correctly?

you need a spark plug non fouler or mil eliminator to keep from having a CEL

You'll need something to "trick" the second o2 sensor into believing everything's fine.

MIL eliminator requires soldering, costs a couple bucks.

Mon-fouler requires some drilling, costs a cuple bucks more.

I have non-fouler fix on, and no problems so far (~1,500 miles).

Search for either, read up, choose one.

The reason it won't read correctly is a header removes the first catalytic converter, so the readings the o2 is getting aren't what it thinks it's supposed to be.

Ok, doesn't sound like a hard fix by any means, so I suppose that's good. Has anyone had any problems with the non-fouler?

Shouldnt be a problem for 1.6er's we don't have the "pre-cat", only the single one

none that i know of

*BUMP*

I just want to Add that Ken will never steer you wrong people. I recently brought an OBX header from off of his site for $239...you guys are getting a better deal Jump on this.

I used the non-fouler trick so far so good...

Haven't heard of anyone having problems w/the nonfouler trick yet. There are a couple people who have had problems w/the MIL eliminator because they purchased the wrong type of resistor...
