GI/Assessing Value: 18" Rays Mazdaspeed MS01S

Hey everyone, came across a set of used Rays Mazdaspeed MS01S' the other day. They were set at a price I just couldn't refuse for a set of forged, ultra-rare, super-lightweight, hella cool, 18" Rays.

But, the paint has been diminished over the years, I suspect they were on a daily set-up, possibly, an RX8.

Looking at your guys' input on maybe what I should sell them for: (I'm finding every reason possible to keep, and refinish them. Don't worry!)

Rays
Mazdaspeed MS01S
18x8"
5x114.3
67.1 CB
+40mm Offset

W/ or W/O TPMS Sensors

Paint : 3/10
Rim Health : 9.75/10

My buddy is selling his MINT set of TE37s for $2.5k with tires. (17X8.5)

This set is in rough shape it'll take quite a bit of work to get them looking nice again.
A set in this condition around $1k asking sounds fair in my opition.
GLWS this is a really cool set.

Yeah that's what I was kind of thinking.. Maybe if nobody is interested in the next month or so I'll media blast them and clean them up a bit to be a clean canvas

Throw some paint on them and you can get upwards of 1800, not too many people would pay a high price for these since the sizing is a bit small. (width/offset)
Look pretty good, I would just refinish and keep them, mazdaspeed wheels dont tend to fetch a high price even though they are pretty rare.

Pop off the center caps and tire pressure sensors and go to work with some aircraft stripper (be very careful with the chemical). After that you could get them powder coated or plastidip them first to experiment with colors before you commit to a permanent finish. Those are some nice rims worth refurbishing to either use yourself or to sell for a profit. Maybe consider polishing and then anodizing them.

I would advise against anodizing them. Anodizing fades fairly quickly when exposed to the sun. Powdercoating would be nice but is not easily removed down the line... Nothing like primer and paint. That or a combo of polish and clearcoat

Are you speaking from your own experience? Maybe these wheels would just be for show or track days. Might even be just to get them looking good enough to sell.

After anodizing the rims should be coated with another layer of protection and to make them colorfast add another layer of UV blocking clearcoat.

It's just and idea and something to consider: an old post on Lotus Talk here

Willing to sell them?

I'd love To buy these from you
