Getting an 08 Mazda3!

I'm not quite sure exactly which one, of if I am building one and getting it shipped yet, but I had a big concern. AUTO vs MANUAL....

Right now I have an '03 Mustang that I'm extremely happy with, with the manual trans. Now I'm buying the 3 for better gas millage, and a "smarter" car then getting 13mpg, I'm still looking to modify this car. How many of you are modifying your cars with the AUTO trans, and do you think an AUTO would be okay if I'm throwing a bunch of performance parts on it?

I'm really worried that I will regret not getting a manual when I'm at the stoplight and someone pulls up next to me, and I cant dump my clutch from the start =X

By the way I'm getting the 5dr grand touring i believe, not quite sure... all depends if Im building or not

I need everyone's opinion please!

Fun factor says a manual. Expectations of grandeur when someone pulls up at the stoplight: stay with the mustang. Even if you were willing to put the money down to get the "I'm going to leave this sucker in the dust" will totally ruin the reason you bought the economical car to begin with. Decide what is important and stick with it. Racing - mustang. Fuel mileage - 3.

If you really must race, consider autocross. The 3 is one of the cars to have for H-Stock...

An awful lot of work and expense when you can get a speed3 for less. And it has a better suspension to go with it...

yeah deffinatly go with the speed3 if you want it to race... you need premo gas though... i think they are all getting 25or so mpg depending on how hard their right foot is into it.

vote for getting speed3. if you're going to heavily modify, this is the best route to start with.

highway: u could probably get 28-30mpg
city: 22-26mpg

really depends on how hard you drive.
