Getting a new color done

:
'02 Protege5
I want to change my mazda protege 5 ('02) from "laser blue" to "vivid yellow". What's the best way to go about getting this done?

Or prepare to dump a ton of cash into a decent paint job (which would get you at least a quarter of the way to a yellow p5).
IF you decide to paint: please, please don't go cheap. You definitely get what you pay for.

Please spend the money, I really dislike all the orange peel, over sprayed rubber, trim, and door sills, hatch marks, etc that people try to pawn off as "professional"

Paint is one of the most expensive things you can do to a car, beside frame off restore it....buy a yellow one!! (2thumbs)

x2 on buying a yellow one.

But if cash is of no concern, don't forget the clear coat (as the vivid yellow did not come with one).

If you're serious about doing this and are willing to drop the money don't go with Mazdas OEM yellow. It's a single stage paint and many original yellow P5s are already showing a decent amount of fade. I'd look for a good, comparable two-stage yellow (if there are any).

Kinda what I said...you could still keep the OEM yellow. Treflip had his vivid yellow re-done and it came out very nice.

You will obviously need to close up the spaces. ;)

If you wanted to come up north to WA there's some good paint shops we could point you towards...
Any place worth going to would gladly sit down and chat about what you want and how much it will cost... there's a lot of research involved in finding the right place on your own.
I don't personally have any leads for you down in Oregon though, sorry.

Anybody got a high quality paint connection in Oregon?
